I have a batch file that calls C:\Progra~2\ParentPay\MISSync.exe /sims /quiet Within the MISSync Tools->Settings I've got it configured to sent a notification e-mail so each morning and afternoon I know it's run when the e-mail arrives 1

If you mean running as Administrator then yes. MIS Sync installed on SIMS server, with the MIS login of the user that deals with MIS Sync, she normally runs this manually. The Task Scheduler is set to run as <Domain>\Administrator When the task is run it says in the logs: Quote Error: 2026-10-02 12:06:37 : Invalid login at MISSync.MISSyncMain.Main(String[] args) All the logins are set correctly according to the ParentPay Guide KB0016380 Edited October 2 by JamesFish2020
Boredguy Posted October 2 Posted October 2 You say it has the SIMS user details of the user correct, but the initial login details for ParentPay itself are correct aren't they and you can manually login to the website with them?
coolhands Posted Monday at 12:05 Posted Monday at 12:05 Not sure if it will help but make sure you've updated to latest MISSync 4.0.9714.20004 as they changed it fairly recently. I have my settings in task scheduler Actions tab like this: also make sure the SIMS location has a space for some crazy reason before the dot in the actual MISSync programme settings: C:\Program Files (x86)\SIMS\SIMS .net

Yes, they work. We tested before and after we ran MIS Sync and actually watched her type the details in. So frustrating as it looks like a really simple issue.

It does point to the correct profile path C:\Users\administrator.<domain>\AppData\Local\ParentPay\MISSync" and this "user" is what it is logged in as. This location matches what is seen on the Config location tab in MIS Sync: Edited yesterday at 17:17 by JamesFish2020 Add information 1

Should it be? I've just opened mine now and yes that is still ticked, ie it remembers and is always ticked. My config location seems to be the same as yours (I've put user.name in place of my actual username) C:\Users\user.name\AppData\Local\ParentPay\MISSync (by the way this is my actual username ie not a generic administrator account, not sure if that matters, just pointing it out). note parentpay group is a horrendous experience so trying to find anything on the misnamed 'help' or support pages is a nightmare, so I am putting this article number here KB0016369 the link is KB0016369 for you or others. Probably won't help but anyway it says this for reinstall (maybe worth you reinstalling from fresh download? the download is on that page) Reinstallation (over an existing version) From time to time, a reinstall may be required to protect the school from new security threats or to introduce new fields or functionality. Use the reinstall option to minimise the configuration and setup required when installing in place of an existing setup. Prerequisites to reinstall MIS Sync: Download the latest version of MIS Sync. Extract the files to an accessible location. Launch the setup.exe file to begin the installation. Follow the instructions on the setup wizard. You must ensure the installation location is the same as the currently installed copy. Upon completion, the application will launch automatically. Once reinstallation is complete, the application will launch with the previously configured credentials. If no credentials are present, proceed as if it were a new installation (above). For completeness I will put my first 2 tabs on loading here so you can check yours against them: Edited 12 hours ago by coolhands 1
JamesFish2020 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Thanks coolhands! For me the most frustrating thing is MISSYNC works, when run manually as I did before enabling the Auto Update function and I'm getting near zero help from ParentPay except to refer me to their KB articles, which at this point I've almost memorised! The logs are not helping at all just a cryptic: Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : Starting MIS:Sync 4.0.9714.20004 Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : ServerURL is https://www.parentpay.com/MISWS/ Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : Config location is C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\ParentPay\MISSync Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : Executing Framework is 4.0.30319.42000 Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : From the installed frameworks Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : CDF Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : v2.0.50727 Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : v3.0 Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : v3.5 Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : v4 Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:02 : v4.0 Error: 2026-10-07 19:00:03 : Invalid login at MISSync.MISSyncMain.Main(String[] args) Info: 2026-10-07 19:00:03 : Finishing MIS:Sync commandline processor I cannot find anything on their site that suggests what this "login" relates to. What am I missing? We don't have a proxy, so that is unticked. What is really puzzling me is if it relates to this entry: On your example screenshot this was filled in. I have put in the correct details several times now and hit Save, but each time I re-open the program these fields are blank again Edited 11 hours ago by JamesFish2020 Add information
coolhands Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago yeah that not staying ticked is a problem I guess. Could it be the admin permissions highlighted below that prevent it? Also just to reiterate this is set up on my normal pc login - not the sims server using a made up sims account. We used to run it from the sims server but I seem to recall we had to move it to my actual normal pc using my own SIMS logins as we had problems with it not working on the sims server but this was 2 years ago so I don't remember the exact reason. Checklist Confirm all of the following before relying on the scheduled task, or it may fail. The task is set up on the SIMS server directly. Task Scheduler runs on a server or PC that remains powered on during its scheduled window. The logged-in user profile has administrator permissions. The author of the scheduled task is the same as the login profile. The PARENTPAY2026 report, or later, is installed on SIMS. This is normally part of the standard MIS Sync installation on the latest release, or can be achieved by resetting it via MIS Sync, Tools, Settings, SIMS Report, Reset, then restarting MIS Sync, or by manually importing the report into SIMS, available from ParentPay Support if required. A successful pupil upload has been carried out via Pupils > Auto Update in MIS Sync before attempting to run the scheduled task. Enable scheduled task is ticked in Tools, Settings, SIMS tab, as above. also I don't know anything about networks / mapped drives but in case it helps you could the below be an issue: (I doubt it is to do with this though?) NOTE Where the scheduled task runs with the SIMS.ini file saved to a mapped drive, or via a virtual location, a NetUse script will be required to run alongside the task. This type of configuration has known issues and is not guaranteed to operate correctly.
Boredguy Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago We have the MIS Sync running happily from the SIMS Server for several sites (though I have it on a dedicated box that also has all the other MIS Sync Tools to keep the load off the SIMS box itself), but would be checking the permissions. Maybe set the Program files (x86)\ParentPay folder that holds the MIS Sync to allow everyone to write (same with the ParentPay folder in the Users\Appdata\Local) and then launch it and see if the values stay saved.
