Just a heads up that the blue light discount card has now opened up to include school staff. The site is struggling at the moment though!

Further down in the FAQ is says 'Teaching and supporting staff' are eligible.

It worked for me and my ID card clearly states IT Support.

Looks like they've suspended registrations for now at least I can't find the registration page only button on there is "join waiting list"

I definitely would not recommend inspecting element on the button and removing the 'Disabled' tag and trying the button again..

I've just joined the waiting list. As for verification, it says primary school staff can be verified by domain, other eligible staff need to upload a photo of badge or payslip - not sure why they can't domain search for everyone, unless there are categories of school staff who aren't in fact eligible (it does say "teaching and supporting staff" though).

Might be an expectation that most primaries will still be using their county.sch.uk domains while most secondaries have moved to schoolname.org.uk/co.uk/com

Possibly. Most of the primaries round here use their own domains, though!

I submitted my application yesterday before leaving work (with thanks to @liamrobinson's tip) and it was approved this morning. I'm in a secondary school, though we do still have a .sch.uk domain and the only ID I provided was a photo of my staff badge (includes title, surname, school name and photo).

This webpage - When you choose 'Teacher' it will disable the start button, but if you inspect element for the button you can remove the 'disabled' tag in there.

 

(if it doesn't show, you should be able to expand the section and it will be there)

On the application page, select Teacher from the drop down list of job types and the button will grey out. Right click and inspect the button. If you can't see the section, you may want to expand the section that contains:

I applied and sent two lots of ID's (photo and wage slip) and been denied both times. I've now opened a support ticket to try find out why.

 

Edit: Just seen their FAQ. Seems to only be for State schools and not Independant.

A colleague was told our ID badges will be rejected because they only show forename initial not full name, so we'll have to upload payslips. Ironic, considering the wait-list form only asked for my first name!

That wasn't the case for me, my badge just says "Mr CHiLL" on one line and "Staff" on the next line, along with a headshot and the school name and some other blurb and mine was accepted.

Ditto, just got an email accepting mine. Will have to see how long it takes for the card to appear!
