We can not get the custom days to work on our door. We have staff that only should have access from 7 am to 11 am. When I add the custom day to open the door from 8 to noon. That works. However, it then allows the staff member to have access after 11 am. We tried a rule and trigger but can’t seem to get it to work. This door has staff that has different accesses. How do we set it up. Any hep and examples would be appreciated. Thanks.

Maybe I should clarify. People have access to this door at different times via a fob. It works by applying the correct time zone per person. However, I need to put in a custom day for this door to be open and then close at a certain time. I need the existing fobs to work for their designated times when the door is not auto opened. I can’t get it to work. Any assistance would be appreciated.

So just to confirm, you have a time zone with Mon - Fri 7am to 11am. You have then added a custom day with 8am to 12 noon.

Have you then assigned this time zone to the access level for your staff, and defined the dates for the custom day in the Paxton diary?

Yes,

we programmed the door to At No Time. Staff Members have fobs so they can access the door M-f 7-11 AND we have Staff that have fobs that can access the same door M-F 7-4. Time Zones are applied per fob. Now, we need this door to auto open on a specific day (custom day)...From 8-Noon. What is the best way to do this? We tried a trigger and that did not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I’m still learning with Net2, but wouldn’t you creat a new timezone of that custom day that you want it open, then on the door use that timezone on the ‘open this door’ setting? I don’t have the software in front of me this evening to check.

We tried that but it would auto open for that day but the other fobs would not open the door when they were supposed to. That is why we tried a trigger/rule that seemed to work to open the door but it gave the fobs access for all the time. We have a call into our tech guy and he is going to research it. I was just trying to see if anyone had any ideas in the meantime. Any thoughts would be appreciated. There has to be a way to do this. Tha ks

What 3s has stated is correct. Have timezones for your staff fobs and apply those to the users, then have a timezone for when you want the door unlocked and specify that to the door. I can check and screenshot tomorrow.

We did try this and it didn’t seem to work. But maybe a screenshot will help. Did you use a custom day or not? Thanks. I appreciate all your help.

From what i remember - custom days work on their own and wipe any other permissions you have on those doors. So you can't have "normal" working hours at the same time as a custom day.

We were advised this by a 3rd party support company when we couldn't make it work.

Hi I have set this up for the pupil gate so that it opens between 8:15 - 8:55 after this time it will only open with badges until 15:05-16:30 when it is open

custom days ie last Friday of the month it is set to allow a set of users to use badges on the gate.

Snapshot shows the custom day with the same time zone set as above so "year 10 town pass only works at the time set on the last Friday of every month".

Have you realised that time configuration for a Custom Day is on a second tab in the Timezone section?

CustomDays.png

You have to re-apply the times that would normally apply on that (eg Tuesday) to the CustomDay, otherwise staff badges won't know what times to work.

Also there is a bug with Custom Days and trigger rules, at least on our system, and i'm not aware they've fixed it yet. Our outside lights use a trigger rule "When timezone is active..." to turn on/off the lights:

On Custom days, the timezone will only trigger after the "time of day that you last edited the timezone". So if you want the lights on from 5am until 8am, then again 4pm to 9pm, you have to log into Paxton at some time between midnight and 5am and edit/save the timezone, otherwise the lights won't come on until 4pm. This only affects custom days, the normal Mon-Fri times work fine.

It took a lot of work to identify the bug, because if you log in at 10am and set a temporary on/off period for 10:05 to make sure the logic is all working - it's fine, the lights work, because it's "after" the time of day. You re-assure premises it's fine, but the next morning nothing works at 5am!

This is very disheartening! There has to be some way around opening a door for a set time but keeping all the other permissions. Someone always can’t be around to auto open the door from their phone. Any suggestions!

Yes, the bug with triggers and timezones affects all days, not just the custom days. It also relies on the door or relay controller being in contact with the server. The setting on the door tab works much better as it uses the built in timer.

For custom days, you have to setup the custom day for all access levels - eg if you have staff and students, you have to do the custom day for both.

In the past, we've generally edited the normal day and then go in after and set it back rather than faff with custom days.

This is the way I would do it. You would be able to set the times up to 6 days in advance, and then have to change it back.

How regular/often are the days when the doors need to be unlocked?

The other option might be to get a key switch fitted to override the lock. But that would require someone on site to do that.

Not in our location; normal days just work, it's only the custom days that go wrong. However i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one with the bug!

This is disheartening!

What is your actual scenario?

Trying to get my head around your first post, it almost implies that the staff who are only allowed in 7-11 are not allowed to use the door when it's already (timed) open - which doesn't make sense.

Then we can maybe talk you through ways of implementation.

Staff can get in with their badge at their allotted times. However, when we set up a custom day for the door to auto open for 3 hrs. They can get in which is fine. However, it seems they can get in after the 3 hrs as well and they should not. Their fob works any time. We have custom days 2 times a month and we wanted to load these custom days and not fool with auto opening the door from our phone all the time.

our technicians are looking into this I just thought when I started to google and found this site I could find out more info in the interim. It sounds like there is a definite bug in the software. Just looking for some suggestions from true users. Appreciate your help

here is the scenario.

People have access to this door at different times. This is handled by the timezone attached to their fob. That works. However, now I want the door to auto open for specific days. Created a custom day timezone. Added the correct time in public holiday. Applied this timezone to door for auto open. When this happened. Those fobs did not work. Only fobs that worked were those that had all access any time.

I have to have the door auto open on specific days for specific times. However, I can’t seem to get this to work. It seems if I apply the custom time zone to the auto open it overrides the fobs that have limited access

our techs are researching and will be coming back next week. I just thought I would see if someone else is having this issue and it seems like the custom day has bugs. I just need to know if anyone has any work around. Thanks.

what you need to do if i have understand this correctly - is on the timezone you have for the fob users click the custom day tab and copy the time settings from the fob users timezone to the custom day - this will allow their fobs to work.

Custom days only work if all of your controllers are Net 2 Plus, if you have any classic controllers you cannot use custom days....

Interesting, I thought this was wrong - mostly because it was the Paxton 10 info. But then I didn't understand why I didn't have the "Custom Day" tab and only had access to a singular custom day - "Public Holiday".

Must be because I have one Classic onsite :(

I think I understand but what if I have 5 fobs with one access timezone and 6 With another time zone. Do I have to apply custom days to both? This could get cumbersome to manage. But I’m open to all suggestions. Thank you

I approached Paxton support (who are excellent BTW) and they said this was why.....
