We currently use Paxton for our clocking in system, however, I’ve been asked to look into a replacement as it doesn’t have the reporting functionality we require.

We require something which allows staff to sign in via proximity card, however, pretty much everything I’ve come across requires an app

Does anyone know of any decent systems?

Fix the reporting, all the data is there, what are you missing?

HR want to be able to define start and finish times for each user and have alerts sent if a user fails to clock in on time or clock out early

Ah yes, I'm old enough to remember the 'good old days' of a manual clock in card!

Where they could I guess use the old management maxim 'if you can't measure it, you can't manage it'

Of course they used it to dock our pay in 15 minute increments... 1 minute late = 1/4 of an hour lost pay, 16 minutes late = 1/2 an hour etc.

We have Paxton here, but I haven't ever been asked or needed to scrutinise the clock in/out times of the staff so can't help you with the reporting.

We also now have EntrySign which might have what you need, but is probably a little overkill.

Let's make everyone waste 10 mins of their work day logging in, and encourage them to not value their work, just their time

Adding reporting / altering for your Paxton system is probably going to be simpler and cheaper than switching systems. Paxton have quite a comprehensive API available, I'd guess there would be an existing integration available that gives you basic in-and-out time reporting, otherwise you could write one yourself (or have someone write it for you).

I assume this is for Support Staff then rather than the Teachers?!

We use Signin app - this thread made me wonder about if it could work with our paxton cards like they use the copiers with there paxton cards for papercut auth... Turns out you can might look into adding it

Yes it can.

What's also useful if you sync your users from Entra AD into SIA they can also pull in prox card details from a custom attribute of your choosing. Think you need to log a support ticket to get configured.

I read that Sign In App were launching a new add on this month for shift patterns and absences

I used Signin app with Paxton cards, once it was set up it was a doddle but, I could not get it to import the card numbers from Paxton and in the end had to get staff to register their cards on first use like on papercut.

I assume HR are going to send alerts to payroll if the user clocks out late too so they can be paid overtime accurately?
