Gongalong Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Hi folks, Our county have provided DNS for our sch.uk domain the last few years, but are dropping most of their IT support including this. We already have DNS for a different domain with Hover, but it doesn't look like they accept sch.uk transfers. Ditto for GoDaddy. A quick google suggests that sch.uk domains are special, reserved etc. Is there any DNS host out there that will accept an sch.uk domain? Thanks
synaesthesia Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 Fasthosts will, been happy with their support recently but you may need to speak to them directly rather than going online. The last favourite TSOHost no longer does it but apparently only a temporary stop. 1
CHiLL Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 We've been using Cloudflare's free solution as our DNS record host since migrating away from our council's hosting many years ago. E4Education are the actual designers/hosts for our website though. 2
Koldov Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 We've always had all our domains with Heart Internet registrar. They had no problem taking on our .sch.uk domain. 1

Wubbalubbadub Posted November 17, 2023 Posted November 17, 2023 https://www.blackowl.co.uk/education/ Do ours. I can’t remember if it’s free or not.. I think it is! 1
eSchoolsEd Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 ANS (formally known as UKFast) accept them and don't charge any annual costs. 1
Gongalong Posted December 4, 2023 Author Posted December 4, 2023 Thanks all, we went with Fasthosts, they were helpful. The actual transfer had to be done over the phone because it's sch.uk and the web form can't handle that. They confirmed no charge, I was amazed!
Michael Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Received today from TSOHost - We're emailing to let you know that we will be discontinuing renewals for a range of tsoHost's TLDs from Tuesday 30th April 2024 and that this will impact one or more domain names in your tsoHost account, which include: XYZ What does this mean? After Tuesday 30th April 2024, we will not renew any impacted TLDs. Whilst affected domains will remain active between Tuesday 30th April 2024 and their current scheduled expiration date, customers will no longer be able to manage their DNS through tsoHost, and arranging changes (for example, completing a transfer process) could be more complicated. For the reasons mentioned above, we would strongly recommend that you transfer all affected domains to a new registrar before Tuesday 30th April 2024.

MYK-IT Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 +1 for Krystal (and Cloudflare for Security, SSL/TLS, MTA-STS, DNS etc).
KK20 Posted March 11, 2024 Posted March 11, 2024 we use nutty about hosting. They accept school purchase orders and direct debits too. Very useful if you dont have a school credit card. I seem to remember contacting them directly for the .sch.uk as that couldnt be done online with the rest of our other domains.
Oaktech Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 TSOHost for us... Accept POs and do free 99yr DNS hosting.
Oaktech Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 Until april... Interesting... I've just checked with my BM and neither of us have had anything from TSO Host about the domains I have registered with them? Going to contact them now.
DGardiner Posted March 12, 2024 Posted March 12, 2024 just go direct to nominet and claim/move your address its fairly painless and costs £10
james1337 Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 Thank you very much to those who recommended Krystal, we have found them to be very helpful at transferring the domains across. Go Daddy couldn't help us, which prompted us to research what others used. Thank you again!
