TechMonkey Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 I think he is saying the exact thing you are in less words. If you can't recover £1 a day value, due to lack of training, time, or staff applying themselves, copilot for M365 is not for you. Yes, you are also right, if you can't invest £2992 upfront then Copilot for M365 is also not for you. I didn't read any arrogance or patronising-ness, just a statement of fact when choosing any piece of software. All software should be having an effect on the school, preferably positive, and that needs to be measurable. Mostly that is measured by how much value, whether it be time saving or monetary value, is derived from the software. I have literally been in a meeting today discussing how staff can find the time to do something that we should be doing but aren't and the feeling is because staff are already being asked to do a lot and don't have time to do more. This leaves it down to me to find efficiencies or put forward the case to hire more admin staff. If something like Co-pilot can return its own value and the value for an extra member of staff then it has done its job. 1

mrnoisy Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 You guys need some edu hobnobs, you’ve just reminded me why I don’t engage with these forums 🤷♂️[emoji85]
Ditto Posted February 14, 2024 Posted February 14, 2024 You guys need some edu hobnobs, you’ve just reminded me why I don’t engage with these forums 🤷♂️[emoji85] I'm always up for edu Hobnobs! I owe @Roberto an apology which I happily give as I completely got this one wrong! For reasons outside this forum, I'm perhaps too much in 'fight mode'! But, to be fair to the forum as a whole, this one is generaly extremely well behaved. Do join in!

Gongalong Posted February 25, 2024 Posted February 25, 2024 It says here from feb 24 A1 will have eligibility Managing Copilot (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise) access for Faculty and Higher Education 18+ student - Microsoft Community Hub Does that mean A1 customers will be eligible to buy it? or will some of it be a part of A1? Anyone know what has happened re. the A1 faculty licenses? It said "early February 2024" although I see nothing in 365 licensng. Is this one of those classic Microsoft slow rollouts?
Gongalong Posted February 27, 2024 Posted February 27, 2024 In case helpful, I contacted Microsoft support. A1 users get "commercial data protection", which is mentioned in the article. Support think that A1 users will get Copilot within 365 in 2-3 months, but no firm date yet. (Paid) A3/A5 education customers have it already of course.
Giblets2 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I know I'm raking up an old thread here but the title is still appropriate. A few of our admin staff are keen(ish) on using CoPilot for Office 365 Apps. We have a mix of A3 and A5 licences with the admin using A5. I looked at pricing (which seems a bit 'business' rather than 'education' level) but the portal showed it as an invalid product for Academic licences. Anyone had any luck getting that added to A5? An idea of the sort of price league we're talking would be handy too! Thanks in advance. Giblets
psydii Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Talk to your CSP, they can usually navigate the vagaries of loading in the correct licence. 1
jamesrhart Posted April 15 Posted April 15 We have about 25 users trialling it, we purchased 12 month licenses for them and will then feedback as to worthwhileness - mix of academic and support, feedback is quite positive so far… but the costs are high…. 1
Sylv3r Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Microsoft slashed(!) the costs recently - Your looking at about £160 per user for the year now on CSP. I'm guessing it hasn't took off as much as they had hoped - not surprised with those costs
TechMonkey Posted April 16 Posted April 16 I got 3 licenses as one manager said it would help them massively, 1 to pass around and 1 for IT to try. I've used it for about a month and it is a nice to have. I wouldn't say it has revolutionised my life yet. but that maybe I just haven't found the right uses. My main uses are: - Checking my mailbox for if I have missed anything or for any priorities I may have overlooked - Tightening up documents, like policies, either in language or formatting. - Starting documents for me, to have a framework I can build up. I think it is useful and has made some of my output better, but is it worth the cost and has it actually saved me time, or just done things I wouldn't have bothered with before? Still not sure I have an answer to that yet. I did find the "prepare for this meeting" button this week and I think that will be a help, but again, more a time saver than an essential. The Director of Ops has been impressed with how he can use it to quiz data in Excel, saved him time in that. And that fits in with other things I am hearing from various sectors, that Copilot is useful to analyse, not produce.
OllyM Posted April 28 Posted April 28 If you use Teams, then some of the Teams features are pretty nice. Facilitator is good, not perhaps as good as Otter or Jamie, but still. The Agenda features that are then enabled in a Teams call I find very useful, though to be fair they may not be entirely based on the Copilot license. Not sure.
