If you use Teams, then some of the Teams features are pretty nice. Facilitator is good, not perhaps as good as Otter or Jamie, but still. The Agenda features that are then enabled in a Teams call I find very useful, though to be fair they may not be entirely based on the Copilot license. Not sure.

Hi all I have a laptop with a single screen. I want to do a presentation via Teams where I share the Powerpoint presentation window with my colleagues. However I need to see the Presentation notes at the same time. Any ideas on how I can do this? I can share the presentation "window" (actually full screen view) with Teams, which allows me to use the edit window of Powerpoint, but that means that I need to space to the next slide, click on the next slide in edit view, then read the notes. It doesn't show the notes suitable for the slide being shown at the time. Any suggestions? O

Hi Bicky Alas no, we didn't. We asked our knowledgeable managed print provider, who were very helpful, but ultimately we couldn't get a list of switches. There are switches available, but they seem to be for the installer software rather than the papercut software that's being installed. In the end, we reverted back to just telling the kids to use Web Print and upload their PDFs to the web print portal or to email them to printing@. The school were fine with this as it's another reason for the kids not to print, which ultimately saves money. If you do find a solution, post it here, as it would be nice to get this sorted. O

Hi all Apologies if this is in the wrong forum, it kinda straddles several topics. We're looking at rolling out a bank of laptops using Intune/Autopilot. The whole process is going very well but we're stuck with one exe, which is the Papercut Mobility Print Client. Has anyone had any success pushing this out using Intune? The command line options are good but we can't seem to find how to prompt the first user for their username and password to authenticate them on the papercut server. Just interested in whether anyone else has got this far in their journey yet. Thanks O

I went for a Seagate one in the end. Was just in our budget and, on paper at least, matches the requirements and the product page even said it was compatible with the spare part product code.

Hi All We have an older ProLiant ML350 G6 server with a Smart Array P410i raid controller. It currently has a load of HP EH0300FBQDD 300GB 15k 2.5" SAS drives. One of them has gone in predictive fail so I need to swap it. Can I use non-HP SAS drives with that controller as part of an existing RAID5 without any great issue? I'm keen to stick reduce our budget spend at the moment. Olly

It could have come from a zip file originally. Hard to know. All we see on the network are mp3/4 files with the associated folders that imply they came from macs. For now we've had to copy everything off then wipe the disk and put it back again.

Nope. Doesn't appear to. If I remove the user from the which which has "apply" access to the GPO, the drive letter remains. As the group is also used to give security and share permission to the shared folder they can't access anything, but dept heads are annoyed that they "know things are there but can't access them". I kinda see their point. I'm tempted to whack in a login script higher up the OU tree to remove all drives, but I can't believe that there isn't a neat answer to this. Olly

Snagrat, That's what we are doing, if I understand you correctly. We have one OU (in this instance) with lots of users, each users is in one or more groups, those groups have APPLY permissions on a series of GPOs assigned to that OU.

Hi all We have a handful of group policies. Each assigns a mapped drive (and a few other user bits) and the GPO is restricted to a group membership. This all works fine, however when the user is removed from the group membership the drive map remains. As the share is restricted to the same group membership, the drive map itself isn't accessible, which is good. However it looks scrappy. The drive map GPO is set to remove when the user falls out of context, but I guess that doesn't take in to account being in the same OU but not in the security group. Any ideas how I can have the users drive map removed when they aren't in the correct membership? I thought about a top level GPO to remove all drive maps, but I'm unsure as to the order of precedence that would take affect. Olly

I can't block the *type* (in this case mp3 and 4) as it's used by other users on other devices without issue. Can FSRM block encrypted files from being created? Encrypted MP3 or 4 files should never be created here. Olly

Hi all We have an issue with a few regular contractors who come in with macs. They save files on the network shares and, as their macs are set to encrypt data, the files they save on the network are encrypted and this causes all kind of issues with opening the files, and copying data. I'd like to find a way to prevent macs from saving encrypted files on the windows network. At the very least, do any mac users know how I can manually show the mac users to copy the files in such a way that they aren't encrypted at the time? Thanks Olly

Hi all I'm having a 'mare renewing an SSL cert on an Exchange 2016 server. Exchange just doesn't want to accept the renewed SSL cert from the provider, which I think comes down to the provider not asking for the req data during the renewal process. Not sure. Anyhoo, I think the easiest way forward is just to install a brand new cert instead of renewing the old one. However, before I do, has anyone done this in Exchange 2016 server? Do you know if the users with Outlook and Outlook mobile apps will get prompts when their devices and software pick up the new certificate? I'm keen not to have to deal with a million user queries if I can help it. This is my only Exchange 2016 box (in fact it's the only Exchange server I have left in my collection) so my up-to-date experience is limited. Thanks Olly

Hi all We have several classrooms of Windows machines which are set up so that we can deploy specific Windows images using network boot and Windows Deployment Services. There are 50+ of them so, even with the time saving of using WDS to re-apply images, it takes a while to go and do each one. Can anyone think of a cunning way to script the deployment via PXE? Is there a way to reboot a PC in such a way that it boots in to PXE boot mode using a command line? You can do something similar with Dell hardware using a Bios image, but alas these machines are all custom made ones (not my idea). Any suggestions?

The server is running VMWare though, so we can't get barebones access.

We have an old dell server running VMWare ESXi 5.x. I need to get access to the drac card remotely but we don't seem any record of the IP and no one seems to have touched it in ages. It's at a remote site so I have limited ability to do stuff from here. We don't have access to the remote switch either. Without rebooting the server itself, does anyone have any cunning ideas who I can find out the IP of the drac card? I can't seem to find a dell drac discovery too. Do all dracs feature the same starting mac bytes at all? Olly

Right, the planets are aligning and a perfect storm has hit my desk and I'm at a loss. We're looking about getting a small tower server for a remote part of the campus running VMWare 6.x. It will probably be either a Dell T130 or T330 with an H730 raid card. We have a stack of disks to re-use. All enterprise in nature but all non-dell certified. A mix of Seagate and WD. Now, my only experience of using Dell PE kit with a dell controller and non-dell disks has resulted in OpenManage kicking out loads of alerts about non-certified drives. The noise was such that it would have swamped any real alerts, if it even generated them. But this is VMware. Touch wood I've never had a disk alert from a VMWare box, and I've never used VMWare on anything other than Lenovo servers so far. So, will using non-dell disks on a Dell T130 with a dell H730 and VMware result in a level of moaning similar to my kids, until I buy them some ice cream? Olly

Hi all I've just pushed out the SIMS client via the Solus agent on the desktop machine. The SIMS.net icon appears on the desktop and the user can double click it. However when they do it prompts them for the location of the connect.ini file or the database location. If you enter this (I:\sims here) then the box goes away, but the SIMS package never actually appears. If you double click it again then you are asked for the location again. Anyone seen this before? Is there a way I can beat it in to submissions? The prompt defaults to c:\sims so I even tried creating a local connect.ini in the c:\sims folder on the desktop, but that didn't help at all. Olly

Hi all I have a bunch of students here who need to access icons in a folder on their desktop, which is a redirected folder, living on the server. The kids have complained that, because the folder view defaults to Details view, the icons are too small and not easy to tap on (it's all about the touch-screen). Is there a way to change the view for a redirected folder such that all users see the new view? I've tried just trying to change the view as the administrator on the server, but the kids profiles don't see the change. I've tried looking in to desktop.ini mods but I can't see any parameter to change the default view type. Hope you can help. Olly

As all the devices are Win10 Edu now we don't have Movie Maker installed and I'm keen to see if there are any other free alternatives that people are using.
