36Degrees Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 We buy refurbs from Pure IT Refurbished. https://www.pureitrefurbished.co.uk/ Used them for several years and on the rare occasion there is anything wrong they resolve it very quickly
PotNoodleTech Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Have used: ICT Direct IT in Stock Techbuyer 1
DrCheese Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 ICT Direct - Cheap & cheerful! - Have bought quite a few 8th gen machines from them to get rid of some of our non Windows 11 compatible machines. 2
MrEprise Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 I looked at Pure IT when finding desktops recently - They don't seem very good value compared to ICT Direct. Although we had to go with a 12-month warranty just to keep within a certain budget, the Optiplex 3060 on there is still more expensive with a 120GB SSD & 2-year warranty compared with ICT Direct's 240GB SSD & 3-year warranty Other companies you could use whose prices are also very close to ICT Direct's are below. Stone Group Black Barn Computers Millgate 1
HereIGoAgain2601 Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 We went with Stone as they were on the Everything ICT framework and could avoid the need for tenders on large orders.
Olliedawg Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 ICT Direct Insight UK NS Optimum Everything ICT (not sure if they do refurbs) To name a few
PotNoodleTech Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Here are a few generations of workstations we buy from ICT Direct. From super old now (but still going!!) HP Z800 to the newer HP Z4s which are single CPU only but rather nice. 1
ICTDirect_Dave Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Just wanted to pop in and say that we're on Everything ICT too! It's great if you need to use it, but they do charge us commission for the privilage of using the framework, which will push prices up a little. We do itemise this seperately though so you can see it. 1
speakercon Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 eBay! Got some absolute bargains over the years for all sorts of hardware.
36Degrees Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 I looked at Pure IT when finding desktops recently - They don't seem very good value compared to ICT Direct. Contact them directly, especially if you're buying in quantity as the price on the website won't be the price you pay. IME with companies we have asked to quote we have paid less for a PC with a 5 year warranty from them than others have quoted us for for 1 year or 3 year.
PotNoodleTech Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 eBay! Got some absolute bargains over the years for all sorts of hardware. Banned by our LEA. How do you get round that?
speakercon Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Banned by our LEA. How do you get round that? Our finance dep are happy (ish) with me using our school ebay account to buy things on, I don't get involved any further than that. However I mostly buy from IT recycling companies on there so I sometimes contact them directly and arrange for them to be added to our suppliers (which I know eBay rather frowns on). There are huge savings to be had if you are careful what you choose, I recently replaced an aging IT suite with 30 X W11 ready PC's I got for £800.
PotNoodleTech Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 Yes it's a shame the LEA are too backward to allow us to use modern purchasing methods to ensure maximum value for money. Oh well.
Will.B Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 RapidIT and ICT Direct are great. Reece at Rapid will give you some great pricing, quality is solid. 1
