  1. Hi there, Can I see if I have this correct? The student has a personal Chromebook that they log into with both their own personal Google account and also their School Google account. You want to remove the School Google account from the personal Chromebook? You remove a Google account from a Chromebook by logging out of the account, returning to the login screen, clicking the down arrow next to the account name and selecting Remove Account. Hope this helps Nick
  2. Google? Give you the opportunity to bypass their Ad options/services hahahahahahaha
  3. Hi there, We have just moved a previously under-used Wiki to a Google Site for our IT Self Help portal. Info across the board on SIMS, Data protection, Digital Signage, Computer Facilities, IT Resources etc. Lots of screen shots and information that we've drawn in from previous paper resources, the original Wiki and lots of new information that we've wanted to get out to staff. It's restricted to Staff only but as it is now a Google Site they can sign in and view the information from any device anywhere in the world. Definitely an improvement. It's one of the icons on our RMUnify Launchpad for staff and is a link on all user details given to new staff on their induction. We have even set up some quick responses in our helpdesk that point direct to pages that cover certain "frequent" questions. Tips: 1)Give yourself time to do it. I screenshotted (is that a word?) every step of procedures I was running as I wrote the page. 2) Add 2 x the 4 image content block and then drag 2 of the items from one into the other resizes the block and creates a nice 6 section panel. 3) While you can just upload images straight into the page I prefer to upload them to an area on Google Drive (same place as the site) and then add them to the page 4) Don't forget to blank out or anonymise names and identifying data from screenshots. Unless you can use demo data from the provider. The front page. One of the submenus Hope this helps Nick
  4. Seconding PureIT for the win. Nick
  5. On my machine it launches the Connect menu and searches for Wireless displays and Audio. Nick
  6. 2nd or 3rded for Spiceworks, with email to ticket and web portal if wanted. With regards to the pouncing teachers, I had that when I brought in the helpdesk, got collared by a teacher in the middle of a playground who when I replied, please send an email to the helpdesk, actually replied to me "I won't remember by the time I get back to my desk what with people asking me things".....my response "Yes, exactly my point". Never did get a ticket! Regards Nick
  7. Chrome Signbuilder and either Chromebox or old mini PC with Chrome Flex on. We used to use Xibo which I found great but general staff found it confusing. They're much happier changing the Google Slides that they have been shared. Nick
  8. Hi there, Thanks Chris_Cook for the network nudge. It turned out to be a firewall/proxy issue. We've now removed the proxy from the OU and the everything immediately worked. Regards, Nick
  9. Hi there, We currently run Xibo here but it is under used, in theory because the staff are finding it hard to understand/update. Therefore there has been a suggestion to move to Chrome Sign Builder. However, I have an issue with it that is driving me crazy. I have set up multiple schedules for the potential screens, with all the relevant slides etc. shared correctly. The OU's and Sign Builder apps are set correctly and the associated schedules work............sometimes. Basically, when the devices are rebooted, they either work within 2 minutes and display everything perfectly OR they sit there at the Sign Builder screen with a blue swirly circle and the message "Preparing App Profile" and then just sit there like that ad infinitum. Unfortunately, the times they sit with the Preparing message is about 90% of the times that they devices are rebooted. Basically so unreliable that I can't even guarantee that they will work if I put them out. I can have a device that sits at that message no matter how times it is rebooted, powered off and restarted etc. for a whole day or even more, and then I'll switch it off for 5 minutes and then when it's turned back on it could then work immediately. Does anyone have any experience as to why this could be happening or how to resolve it? Using GSB and Google slides would certainly make it easier for staff to update, but not if it's not reliable. Regards Nick
  10. Hi Mav, True but it's better to test and find out in advance rather than in an actual exam (we had that issue 1 year and believe me NEVER again - Severe brown trouser moments!!!) Nick
  11. Hi there, I have been searching for a way to script remotely logging into a room full of machines but using a different username for each machine. We currently have Impero and RM Tutor which will allow us to login to multiple machines as the same user but we often have to create and test batches of 100+ users for exams etc. I am therefore after a quicker way to do this that walking around a classroom manually logging in each different user. Any ideas? Nick
  12. Hiya, Unfortunately it installs with no proxy by default. Very annoying. Nick
  13. Hi there, Also, in addition does anyone know what the "minimum" SDK components that would be required for GCSE/A Level Computing. I ran Liam86's full list and it downloaded over 19.2Gb before I killed it. We have 128Gb SSD's in the computer suite PC's so there is no way we can push this amount to them for just one package :-/ Nick
  14. Hi there, We've now gone down the route of using PDQDeploy to install this, however we still need to set proxy settings in the SDK somehow to be able to allow the download of the latest components. Does anyone know the command line string to set the proxy for the steps suggested by Liam86. Thanks Nick
  15. Hi there, We are an RM school (supported by our LA) running Windows 2008R2 virtual servers and Windows 7 (32bit) workstations. We finally completed our migration to Windows 7 over the summer holidays and since then have seen no end of issues with printing in classrooms. We run a Windows 2008 (Standard 32bit) print server with PrintManagerPlus as our print tracking software. The issue we have is very transient in nature which is making it really difficult to try and pin down and make a solution. When a student logs in, the printers may or may not map correctly (some or all of the assigned queues). Rebooting the computer sometimes brings the printer(s) back and as a result we have been "managing" to cope so far. Manually attempting to map the printer (on a machine where automapping has filed) returns the message "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The specified port is unknown". Looking at the event logs on the machines give an error that the spooler service is crashing as follows: Description: Faulting application name: spoolsv.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7aa85 Faulting module name: hpcpn6de.dll, version: 0.3.1537.70, time stamp: 0x490025d7 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00010c25 Faulting process id: 0x129c Faulting application start time: 0x01ceb83249d29dbc Faulting application path: C:\Windows\System32\spoolsv.exe Faulting module path: \\?\C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\hpcpn6de.dll Report Id: 5049e457-242c-11e3-b401-005056c00008 The rooms this is mainly happening in all have HP CP3525's (Colour laser) although we have seen the issue randomly in some other areas with different printers. However we have updated the "original hp downloaded" driver with the Windows 7 and 2008 embeded PNP drivers but this has not resolved the problem. At the same time as this is causing issues, over the summer we installed (or rather the LA) CC4 Anywhere (Citrix). At this time (due to previous bad experiences with 64Bit drivers) I created another 2008 (32bit) print server. I then created 32 bit queues for the required rooms and then added the 64bit drivers to them. However since the start of September we have had no ability to print at all. When testing we can occasionally see printers map as a member of staff (BUT not consistantly) but never as a student. I am tearing my hair out here and neither I, the LA team or RM can find a way to really resolve either issues. The latest advice that has come back is really to build a new print server and gradually move printers over to try and identify which one could be causing the issue. There was also a between the lines hint that HP drivers are (*(&^*&^%^ and that other manufacturers such as Brother/Samsung or others were better (obviously while trying hard to not "officially" recommend a manufacturer. 1) Does anyone have any ideas that I can use to resolve this? 2) For any of you out there using CC4, what printers would you recommend or have you never had issues with 3) For any of you out there using CC4 Anywhere, what printers would you recommend or have you never had issues with Many thanks Nick
