jblackburnHWGA Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 I power off, hold down the home button and plug the cable in. Its powers and the recovery screen flicks on but just goes off and the iPad reboots to loop back round endlessly unless i release the home button. I don't know the passcodes. They're managed with intune but i can't get them connected to the wireless to remove the passcodes to reset. Any advice? Thanks
jblackburnHWGA Posted March 14, 2023 Author Posted March 14, 2023 that didn't work, it just loops. I managed to track down the student that had it last and she unlocked it for me. Still doesn't go into recovery even after a reset using configurator on the iMac
LeMarchand Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Haven't got any Macs (yay!), but I have found it sometimes takes a few goes to get them into recovery. I normally: Open iTunes on my PC Turn off the iPad Plug one end of the cable into the PC Hold down home and plug the other into the pad Follow the on-screen iTunes prompts, going for "Update and restore" if offered If everything goes through but the pad hangs on the "plug me into the PC" screen for more than a couple of minutes, quickly unplug/plug the connecting cable at the iPad end Wait and pray Sacrifice a child to the ghost of Steve Jobs Normally the iPad will restart and start to update/restore. Teachers can be substituted at stage 8 but their souls have already become corrupted, so you'll need more of them 1
Zbd Posted March 16, 2023 Posted March 16, 2023 I'm not sure this will help, but sometimes I cant get an iPad to go into dfu with it plugged into a computer. Sometimes I have to have it plugged into the charging block and then hold down power & home. Once its in the mode I plug it in to the PC to get iTunes to reset it.
jblackburnHWGA Posted March 16, 2023 Author Posted March 16, 2023 I got it working in the end following this, took a couple attempts but it did the trick How to Put the iPad in DFU Mode if it has a Home Button If you have an older version of the iPad that has a Home button, then follow these steps for DFU restore mode. Plug your iPad into a computer with the USB cable and launch iTunes. Turn off the iPad if you haven’t done that yet. Press and hold your On/Off button for 3 seconds. When a Slide to Power Off slider appears, swipe it to the right. Press and hold the device’s Top button for 3 seconds. Press and hold your Home button while still holding the Top button. Hold both buttons together for 10 seconds. Let go of your On/Off button, but keep holding your Home button for an additional 5 seconds. If you see a screen that says Plug Into iTunes, then you have not done the maneuver correctly. You’ll need to try it again. If the screen stays black, then your iPad is now in DFU restore mode. You should now be able to restore your device. 1
