  1. I have a Prusa Core One at home and my dad has a Bambu P1P. speed and reliability is about the same between them. Price is a LOT better with the Bambu though, with the trade off with them being more proprietary and locked down (& more phone home connections back to China).
  2. Octoprint would be an option running on a Raspberry Pi or equivalent, as suggested by others, I have used this in the past, but it was limited by the connection to the printer as I said before but its likely the Ender 3 V3 is faster anyway. Alternatively I think Creality Cloud works with the Ender 3 v3, but its not something I've used and am unsure of the security implications.
  3. You can use the printer in offline mode. You can also connect directly via a cable though this is not something I would recommend, at least based on my experience on the original version of the Ender as it might be different now, sometimes the bandwidth wasn't fast enough and the printer would crash half way through a print. Using the SD slot overcame this limitation. You would need a slicer software such as Ultimaker Cura, Prusa Slicer, or Orca Slicer (All of these are free). You would load in the 3D file, then slice the file to generate the G-Code that the printer would use. You would save the G-Code to an SD card/Micro SD card and then insert it into the printer.
  4. We used to use Lightspeed and had this exact same issue with iPads ignoring and not applying policies, restrictions etc. And when they did do as they was told, it would have a long delay before executing the instructions. Sadly we never found a solution. We have now migrated over to Jamf School and this is by far less of an issue in comparison, so I suspect it's a Lightspeed thing and not an iPad/Apple thing.
  5. This worked a treat, thank you!
  6. Hi All, We've had an incident where a student hijacked another student's account and emailed the entire year group. Does anyone know if its possible to restrict emailing the Google group to another group's (staff) members only? thanks,
  7. Synergy works a treat, I have it currently working between my windows and mac computers.
  8. Even between Synology NAS's its slow. It takes us several days just to do an incremental backup.
  9. I'm not sure this will help, but sometimes I cant get an iPad to go into dfu with it plugged into a computer. Sometimes I have to have it plugged into the charging block and then hold down power & home. Once its in the mode I plug it in to the PC to get iTunes to reset it.
  10. Happened to me as well. Got called away but lost the stream half way through.
  11. Its the other way round that I need. So the student can speak and it will write the text.
  12. Do you give your students internet access? I've just tried Office dictation however it needs internet access to work. We have been disabling WIFI on the exam computers to prevent potential cheating up until this point.
  13. Hi, we have student that is allowed to use Speech to Text software for her AQA and OCR exams. Does anyone have any experience with this? or any recommendations? thanks,
  14. How far down in the group tree are you? How many members of the Group/Class is there? do you have any teachers assigned in the membership list? I had to have teachers as members of the group when I managed to get Apple Classroom working with lightspeed. Was always hit and miss if the student device would show up though.
  15. Lightspeed is horrifically slow, both the management UI and the time it takes to apply changes to the iPads themselves. Students would wait 5-10 min to install an app from the portal. I was shocked at the speed of JAMF when we started moving across. I would NOT recommend lightspeed to anyone. They dont even allow for a year 13 so you have to knock everyones' grade down a year
  16. Getting it to sync I think would be our biggest issue. For us JAMF is synced to ASM, ASM in turn is syncing/federated to Azure for Verification and account creation. Azure syncs from our local AD, however we don't have any class information in A.D, only year group OUs. We do have Google Classrooms that would be ideal to pull the data from, we create them at the start of the year using GAM and then teachers actively use them, and their information would be current. however I am unsure how to go about this. As we are Azure federated for ASM, we can't use CSV uploads to bring the class data in. On lightspeed we didn't need the class information in ASM IIRC for classroom to work, is this the same for JAMF? I thought I had read previously the information needed to be in both.
  17. Hi thanks for that. Its their shared iPad passcodes that they forget, not 1-2-1 devices. The JAMF setup/reset option looked good as it would allow them to have a clean iPad each time it gets used so they can sign into Google etc without having to remember their shared iPad passcode, which is our current setup. I'm a member of JAMF nation however there are over 40,000 posts on JAMF pro but only 367 on JAMF school, so it's a path less travelled, which was my point that there's less reference material to search for your answer.
  18. One thing to be aware of is that JAMF has two flavours, JAMF School & JAMF pro. Some apps only work with one and not the other. We are on JAMF school (coming from Lightspeed - wouldn't go back) and we were looking to try the Set/Reset apps as our Sixth formers keep forgetting their 4 passcodes however it doesn't work with JAMF school. But JAMF school does have Lifetime licences, I don't know if JAMF pro offers this but I suspect not as its more for corporations. Also I find it harder to find information on JAMF school as most of the info out there seems to be for JAMF Pro.
  19. Hi, This is more for the benefit of Google than anything. When we deployed the Arduino IDE v2 MSI. We found that our under "Tools" we found that our students had no "Port" option between "Board" and "Get Board Info". We knew it was a Active Directory Group Policy User Restriction as both Local Admin and Staff could see the option however students couldn't. All the Google search results came up about a lack of drivers however that was not our issue. We traced it to the fact that our Students cant run any executables on their home drives, so we had to add the exception to the below folder: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Arduino15\ If anyone can be more specific I'd be grateful from a security point of view
  20. We got a PTZ optics camera like this one a year or two ago: https://stagelogic.co.uk/product/ptzoptics-12x-3g-sdi-ptz-camera-white/ Its connected to OBS via a RTSP stream. PTZ-Optics have a plugin for OBS for basic controls & pre-sets & the zoom is good enough to get upper body shots from the other side of the hall. But it does have some lag so no good for realtime. They do have a controller as well but we never got it. We usually either set it to capture the whole stage or have it focused on the podium. We took a feed from the mixing desk and fed it to the back of the hall and into the Camera for sound.
  21. Hi I've enabled federation between Microsoft Azure and Apple School Manager, it seems to work fine however can anyone tell me where the person ID that is put into ASM is pulled from? It looks like the person's Object ID from Azure, however the values don't match, and I cant seem to find a field in Azure that matches. thanks,
  22. Thank god for that, I didn't fancy paying for other members of the family, or having to organise payments from them!
  23. This was posted elsewhere by someone on Edugeek, I forget where now, but it takes you through installing GAM on Google Cloud:
  24. I would prefer this too, but I have yet to see a way to force it.
  25. Download and open iTunes, plug in a lightning cable, hold the power and home button down together until it reboots. Continue holding Home until you see a connect to iTunes message. Then iTunes will take you through the reset.
