Did anyone else chuckle at the picture in this BBC story?

Can I just do her a favour and submit a report that the mouse keeps moving when she tries to use the IWB

just to save time

(which may be why the projector is not switched on - why power it up if it makes the mouse go funny

Oh and

the fact that it class consists of about 5 kids

all of whom are in perfect, neat, clean uniform and are paying attention

so not any school I have worked in - or for that matter - any kids I have taught!

all points to a picture taken and arranged purely for a promotional thing

And she's clearly using Sparklebox | EduGeek.net . *Disgusted*

I know of a few Primaries that use Sparklebox and don't see any issues with doing so. I even strongly recommended to one to stop using it based on the status of its founder but I'm fairly sure they chose to ignore me and continued to use it.

To be fair, is that even an IWB? It looks like an ordinary whiteboard to me. Even if it is interactive, it doesn’t look like an IR/camera based one - copper matrix at best. Judging by what appears to be a CRT monitor in the bottom right corner, I think this photo is rather dated (which may also explain the use of S******box).

But to answer your question, yes I did chuckle.

I think that's a glossy laptop screen.

Also, I think the IWB looks strikingly similar to one of the old TDS Activboards we had at my last school.

It's a really old gen Promethean Activeboard (old enough that the ones we had used serial cables). We had them in the first school I worked in.

If it’s interactive where are the cables running to the board?

Our boards of this type had trunking running up the wall from underneath at the centre of the board… directly behind the teacher’s legs in this photo.

But doesn't the projector cable come down from the ceiling??

I have seen a lot of varied cable runs to IWMs but I can;t quite figure that one out

especially as the projector is switched off

if I was forced to come up with a sensible idea (which is a new concept on here for me!!) the I would say it come down the truncing on the left - from our view - and then left to right under a laminated sheet and across under the bottom of the board

because, if I remember correctly - that board had the connection on the bottom right

although there were probably a lot of very similar one and their connection varied a lot
