Summer kit orders

We're supposed to be doing a switch refresh(old HP for new Aruba CX series) and the rate things are going they won't be delivered before very late August. So I'm honestly not sure I can get them installed before term starts.

 

Speaking to my old school their entire summer Dell order of 120 all in ones isn't arriving until mid September forcing them to replace computers over the course of the new term. We're also staring to renew our copier lease and suppliers are saying at at least two months on those, although we don't need them until October.

 

How's everyone's summer equipment orders going?

Somehow, we've been lucky. I had a big order of Aruba 5400Rs, modules, power supplies and some 2540s delivered yesterday and our supplier are getting access points delivered for the middle of August, supposedly.

 

We did have some help from Aruba themselves with that though.

I have had 400 laptops, 400 docks and 800 monitors on order since January….

we had 23 Aruba 6100 switches delivered within a couple of weeks of ordering in July.

I have a Chromebook Trolley on order since June. Just been told it'll be mid September before it arrives!

20k of unifi kit - still waiting on all the 24 ports. Lucky to get the rest In.

 

Other jobs have had to be postponed as we can’t get supply.

We were lucky, I placed our usual summer order of iPads in may and they were in stock by June and our supplier held them for us until mid July. My supplier is now having trouble getting them in again now

 

Also ordered a couple of servers from ICT Direct which arrived a few days later

 

Now just need to order an it suite of desktops but will leave them till October

Also waiting on a stack of Unifi kit,no eta on over half the order, mostly switches.

I've since had a bit of good news, four of my switches will be arriving at some point this week along with the extra 10Gbps line card for the core switch.

 

But sadly no ETA on the remaining 5 yet

Desktops and laptops have flown out. We've sold thousands and got the majority out in good order. Servers too.

Our problems this summer have revolved around monitors. We own hundreds of them, but getting them into the UK from mainland Europe has proven quite slow.

What with the driver shortage, covid and the mess that is currently the customs system it's taken far longer than normal to get things across the channel!

 

That said, should anyone need any last minute PC, Laptop, Server, or Workstation supplies. Let us know. We should be able to sort something out on relatively short order

Knew it was too good to be true, one of the four switches has arrived faulty. Just waiting to see what the ETA is on the replacement while at the same time I have no ETA at all on the remaining five 6200's.

Synology RS1221 ordered May due, well no one knows

2 x Gigabyte S2D servers with SSD using AMD EPYC Rome 7302P CPU ordered and built in 2 weeks.

Aruba 5406R core plenty of stock.

5 x Aruba Instant on 1930 24Port POE+ Switches (what a farse that is, one of the slowest switches I have used) Next day

Smart 75Inch Interactive panel, Possibly Oct but maybe into 2022

 

I finally had a chat to a HP account manager, looking at builds of school spec laptops, Core i3, SSD, 8GB with Full HD Screens he said he wouldn't be surprised if they are not seen until 2023, If I wanted no HD screens there would be a steady supply.

 

All a bit messy at the moment, luckily our core build and servers could all go ahead but now having to drag that last bit of life out of our Meru 1550 controller and AP's. Luckily we are in contract until OCT and I see Meru controllers on 'The Bay' for around £50 if anything goes wrong.
