ultimatepie Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 We have a 300Mbps connection down and not redlining it at peak times, but staff are reporting performance issues when running cover or attendance at peak times. every time we report the issues just get told to clear the cache, I feel a bit fobbed off with this response. Also, this morning bromcom had a faulty server cluster issue with their VM which our MIS is hosted on. We didn't get notified of these issues occurring until we called up. anyone having these issues?
Theblacksheep Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 yes. reported it several times, but get the "all systems working" and the usual fob off, they clearly have some performance issues. Especially worse in large schools.

We had a call open for attendance performance issues when we first got the MIS and it was marked as resolved with some more efficient code. They use Azure I think so should be able to scale quickly for any performance issues. I'd suggest reporting it and the exact page you are accessing on their support system. They seemed responsive for us. For info @DanSears are you scaling up the backend as you get more customers? Edited May 25, 2021 by supportman

We have number of application and infrastructure monitoring systems we check and alerted. 2
Bromcom_Hus Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 It's random... We're experiencing slowness all over the shop TBH. It's been reported and I did manage to get one guy quite high up to half admit that they were very close to having to scale out their Azure infrastructure, but they weren't quite there yet. Hi Oaktech, Can you PM myself the received details on this, as you have been shared wrong information regarding to "we are not there yet" - we are constantly review and scale our infrastructure since we moved to Azure 3 years ago. The experience you having can be related to your database rather than infrastructure, and I am happy to get that investigated. Please PM myself the support case reference that you raised on this subject, and I will get that looked at.

Perhaps I misunderstood the person I spoke to, or perhaps they meant they were literally right about to scale out. 2
CyBeRkId2002 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I have to say that in my experience speed has not been an issue for us, just in case anyone thinking this may be a large-scale issue. Only time it takes any time to render anything in fact is when we run significantly large reports.
noelmm Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 We have had constant speed issues over the years, many calls logged and we just get the response everything is fine with the servers and to clear our cache. When we have had weeks of slow speed and had a Bromcom engineer remote onto one of our machines to see the problem suddenly the problem was fixed, a day or two later the problem occurred again. That's happened a few times, we just deal with the slow speed now.
paulkerton Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 I can't say we've ever experienced any performance issues with Bromcom. The only time I ever see any kind of slow down (and it's only for myself and not for anyone else) was in the early days when I would trigger a Google sync. That's clearly me hitting the buffers when it comes to database queries, rather than a system wide issue. Have you tried testing against different OS's and browsers to see if it's a device issue? Could it be a traffic prioritisation issue?
supportman Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Yeh no real issues for us at the moment as far as I know. I do think the code could be made more efficient especially on long list loading.
