There's a new Veeam agent for macOS too.

Does anyone know how much the licenses are? I have requested pricing from a reseller, but they haven't got back to me yet.

If it's not too expensive it would be a good way to backup our school Macs.

I've just installed the Windows Agent to backup my home video editing/design PC. Just purely for the boot drive as getting everything setup is a royal PITA on the desktop. Editing footage is on seperate internal SSDs then backed up

over 10Gb network onto a Synology and then taken offsite on a few external SSDs for safe keeping. Does take a while to do the backup over a 1Gb link to an SMB share even for the small OS 256Gb SSD.

I'm considering moving over to the M1 Mac Mini but it will only be for specific (design creative) use, normal daily driver is a Linux PC for last 2-3 months and prob will stay that way.

Yeah I have upgraded quite a few times and it always goes well.

Last place they had Veeam 6.0 when I started and over the years took it up to 9.5 before I left without any issues. Quite a bit has changed, they were originally using Backup Exec because of lack of tape support but thankfully managed to ditch Backup Exec just at the right time, lol. We had the Enterprise version and could restore AD users by setting up a SureBackup job which involved starting the DC in an isolated environment and then restoring objects into the live environment then they brought out all the Active Directory Explorer which made it not necessary to do that any more :-) .

I'm updating now - you are all getting the blame if this cocks up on a Friday!

I've always kept Veeam up to date in the past but this seems a rather large update with lots of new features.

We normally have a Friday no change rule, well some changes but we generally edge on caution for anything service effecting, lol.

My Friday no change rule is honoured more in the breach than the observance!

We just took the plunge to update to V11 on Wednesday and we are having all sorts of issues with our offsite NAS located at another school (internal backups work fine). Everything was working fine on V10... Anyone ever encountered this before?

Is Veeam 11 available in the Community version yet anyone know.

Interested as from what I heard it no longer relies on snapshots. Fed up with 10+ snapshots accruing on some VMs due to Veeam.

I can heartily recommend moving your repositories to ReFS - what a massive time saving for a synthetic full and a space saving too!

We went from 6 hours on one vm to 45 minutes.

That's normally an issue with a slow external device/nas etc disconnecting too soon. I know some people were having a similar error when using AWS gateways as the cache was disconnecting too soon.

As a temp trial have you tried extending SMB timeout on the server?

Set-SmbClientConfiguration -SessionTimeout 300 etc
