Dear all

I have been asked by SLT to looking into Teams setup and maybe someone will be able to help/point me in to right direction. Do people mind share the structure of their schools Teams? Staff/students only teams and year groups.

I have registered our domain to office 365 and have free licence for students/staff.

How do I use SDS for student classes as well? We have been using google classroom for a while but I don’t why they want me to looking to teams?

Thanks

SDS is basically 3 files produced for teachers, classes and pupils it's not too bad to use but if you are being thrown in the deep end there are paid for options that aren't that expensive and come with support and synchronised class lists.

We went manual and it's the teacher's responsibility to create their Teams! They are just named the same as the timetable code I believe.

There are lots of resources on Edugeek and Microsoft on securing your environment too - suggest you read as much as you can and then create some test accounts and test test test until you're happy BEFORE you go live - it will save a lot of issues!

Is the DfE funded O365 setup still available? The application form is still up (link below) might be worth trying and seeing if you still get any response.

I've just tried it and received a confirmation email.

Please note that your Deployment Support Request for Office 365 and Microsoft Teams has been received. A Microsoft Partner will contact you in the next 2 business days to arrange the delivery of this service.

I'll let you know what happens next...

What MIS do you use?

If it is SIMS, capita will onboard you automatically and create all the teams and assign pupils/teachers to those classes. As soon as a pupil is changed in SIMS, it changes in teams as well.

SDS for us. One team created per "class", its automated via powershell scripts for us, data is grabbed from MIS timetable. After than people can create manual ones. The "staffroom" and "tech support" teams are kept up to date with powershell scripts. We dont have azure premium so cannot use dynamic groups.
