Hello all,

Long time no post.... hope all are safe and well :):):)

Wonder if anyone has this info they could share....

I've recently received an allocation of Ipads from the DfE Help With Technology scheme.

Looks like they've been supplied by XMA.

I need their reseller ID for Apple School Manager to DEP enroll.

Devices Pending

The devices submitted by XMA LIMITED on your behalf on November 27, 2020 at 11:09:44 AM GMT will not be available for enrollment in Apple School Manager until you add them as a reseller.

Anyone got their reseller ID ?

Trying to call them is 'not working' :)

Cheers in advance.

We ordered our iPads yesterday at about 3 p.m. and they turned up this morning!!

I have added the Comptacentre reseller ID into our ASM, but how do I tell them that I need those iPads put into our DEP?

I'm a bit confused, I thought it would be done automagically somehow and it would ask for our ASM number when ordering, but apparently my Business Manager says it didn't.

Why not? Surely that would be the most logical way to do it?

@mikkydoos - Where were you seeing this?

@Koldov

When you placed the order, there was an option to add your Apple DEP number (Organisation ID). Your BM is ... erm.. wrong.

@stevenramsden's XMA code is correct. You need to add XMA's reseller code to your ASM, not Computacenter, providing they were shipped by XMA that is... ours were.

Computacenter aren't the distributors, they're just providing the order portal.

If your BM didn't supply the DEP number at checkout, contact Computacenter support quoting your order number. They were pretty quick to respond to me.

EDIT: The devices pending notification was in an email from Apple.

EDIT2:

I sent a begging email to DfE support requesting more devices, quoting our free meals numbers and the total isolating at the time (your heads will be submitting daily figures to the DfE),

I ended up getting 4 times our allocation ! :o

I recently had to deal with iPads and it was a complete PITA. Only managed it with a lot of help from @DGardiner. I didn't set ASM up until after they arrived, so you deffo don't need to give that at time of ordering.

IIRC you need to get in contact with XMA and give them your Organisation ID from Settings>Enrolment Information so that they can release the info to Apple. (As well as add them as a source in ASM).

I don't see any information about where they came from in the box.

Just a label on the outside stating that they came from Computacentre and the Computacentre order ref...

Our BM is going to order 4 more and will double check that there's nowhere to put in any other information such as our Apple DEP number (Organisation ID).

AHA!

@mikkydoos So, a very sheepish BM just called and said that there IS actually a section at the end of the ordering process for the Apple 'Organisation ID'!!!!

Although it appears from his previous attempt you can just click next and bypass this (maybe not every school has enrolled in ASM) as in the experience @LeMarchand had...

If you set up ASM BEFORE you recieve the iPads it is NOT a PITA as they will auto enrol into ASM DEP as long as you give your Org ID to the reseller at the time of ordering.

If you ignore instructions, help and guides about this then expect to get problems....

If you get none of the above; just told to "set up these iPads" it most definitely is a PITA. Even getting let into the Cult of Apple took an age (though they claimed they rang us the same day as we tried).

It is not beyond the realms of possibility @Brimstone that IT related things might be ordered without the knowledge of the incumbent IT person now is it...?

How long have we worked in EDU IT...?

Luckily, I was asked about the devices on offer and which best would suit us (and I posted on here asking that exact question).

However, before I had even got my first reply (and they were swift - GO EDUGEEK!), my BM had phoned and basically said they had decided on iPads and he'd ordered them...

I have explained to them numerous times about our MDM and Apple stuff in general, but they have never taken any interest (obviously) in how it works - as that's not 'their job', but believe me, they would have ordered iPads even if I hadn't had it all set-up.....

if you ask nicely most suppliers will push them into DEP anyway restrospectively.

HAHAHAHA!!! OMG it gets worse!!!!

Not only has my BM said that there is a section for our Organisation ID, he has now apologised and admitted he did see that section, but that he put in some random school ID number that we have from the DfE for our school...

I wonder if that number matches anyone's Apple Organisation ID and they now have some new iPads awaiting approval in their DEP...?

I don't know... talk about sending a BM to do a NM's job...
