Dos_Box Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 @ZeroHour has been after one of those to manage streaming for the conf. And no, we shan't show you the live stream from it
LeMarchand Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 When we collected Mum's ashes from the undertakers they provided a discreet strong paper bag. Easy to recycle or compost after the ashes were scattered. Recently collected Dad and his came in this (details removed to protect the well-meaning): Now, although this "upgrade" probably didn't cost much more in the scheme of things, it's not recyclable or easy to compost suggesting that they think it might be reused. By whom? Maybe if they'd done red or purple text on black you could give it to a goth kid, but it's hardly the sort of thing people are going to use for their shopping.
smurfomatic Posted September 8, 2024 Posted September 8, 2024 Should ask if you can have half a dozen of them, take them to the supermarket and tell everyone you get one for every wife/husband/partner... 2
Ketlane Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 And this is the department that runs education..... 2

When my parents passed the undertakers were kind, considerate and thoughtful. It was the marketing mailshot from the crematorium that raised my hackles. First tears then anger. Not for the cremations, but the side hustles on tacky and tasteless mementos that would have been at home on this thread.
Ketlane Posted September 16, 2024 Posted September 16, 2024 I was aware fibre was fast, but this is amazing..... 2
jthompson Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 I feel like that second one has been created deliberately as some kind of fiendish brain-twisting test. A bit like reading the names of colours that are themselves printed in a different colour to that written. How fast can you read it without making a mistake?

Ketlane Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 Agreed, but why the apostrophe? Perhaps it's a free-range inverted comma?
6Foot2 Posted October 7, 2024 Author Posted October 7, 2024 Perhaps it's a free-range inverted comma? (Many) other commas are available, maybe?... Link: xkcd: University Commas

OldTimeIT Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 "e" is the most commonly used letter in the English language. Anyone who has ever used Stevenage station will know that this is exactly how the announcer pronounces it.
Garacesh Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 "e" is the most commonly used letter in the English language. Probably wouldn't be if these guys weren't padding the stats

LeMarchand Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 From Den of Geek. Originally the article twice misnamed the Austrian Oak as the Muscles from Brussels. ‘What if Conan [the Barbarian] was all talk?’ That was the genesis for the episode,” Secret Level co-creator and executive producer Dave Wilson told Den of Geek at the screening. Indeed, the 10-minute episode is a subversion of the classic Schwarzenegger role, with the Muscles From Brussels playing a king and conqueror washing up on the beaches of Aeternum and getting humbled in a way fans of the game will find all too familiar. The writer needs to be... terminated. 1
