Hello all,

I'm looking for a quick solution for a Room Booking product. The school I work at current use Bromcom as their MIS. I haven't actually used Bromcom yet and just wondered if anyone could shed any light on what the Room Booking product is like?

I have used http://www.schoolbooking.com in the past which I found excellent but would be interested to know what others thought of the Bromcom offering.

Many thanks in advance.

I can confirm that the Bromcom Room Booking system enables you to do everything you require within the school by using the Diary module.

The only thing you cannot do via the module is manage external lettings.

That's great to here. I checked and we have the module, it just needs setting up. I haven't even used Bromcom yet but I'll be doing this first thing Monday!

just be a little careful. It does the job but it isnt as polished or fully featured as room booking. So if your going from that you will feel a bump but at the same time there is no data link to take care off and no additional costs. So as we found with parents evening you will need to manage the process as otherwise people will just see the negatives. I have raised with Bromcom some features around parents evening and they are looking to implement so be proactive in communicating any gaps in adopting it as from my experience they are ready and willing to listen when clear sensible suggestions are proposed to them. The market themselves as a one stop shop so they need to keep on top of all these potential add ons to ensure the MIS keeps pace. . .

But when I look at some of the horrible paper based systems some schools run Bromcom's functionality can save a whole lot of staff time if utilised appropriately.

We also use Bromcom for room and resources booking. It's fairly basic at the moment but works well for our needs.

The way it works is that a member of staff can access the calendar (diary) within Bromcom and there is a button for them to fill out a request for a (free) room. Another button allows them to request a piece of equipment that has been logged in Bromcom by an administrator as a bookable resource. The administrator then reviews these requests and approves or declines the booking. Approved bookings show on the calendar and the room or resource is marked as not available to book during that time. It would be nice if email alerts to the relevant staff were sent when a request had been logged/approved/declined - I have logged this as a development idea with Bromcom and am hopeful that they'll pick it up for a future release as they are usually really proactive when it comes to listening to their customers.

Parents Evening bookings also work well for us and our parents via Bromcom's My Child at School app.

Actually, having discussed this with Bromcom support, they have showed me that the system does indeed alert the requestor via the Bromcom messaging system. So that's all good!

Hey All,

This old thread from Jan 2020 has been very useful!

We have very recently migrated to Bromcom. Been trying to follow documentation to set up room bookings and would hugely appreciate some advice on prerequisites we need to have set up in the system to get room bookings working. Under the configurations page trying to exclude some larger spaces from being bookable by all but removes them altogether so that admins can't book either.

Some bullet points on modules we need to set up and starting points to get room bookings working with all features enabled would be much appreciated to save time on the penultimate day of the school year.

Many thanks in advance.

It's okay if you dont have anything or not used anything in the past to compare it to but i recommend SchoolBooking.com as bromcom timetables will automatically feed into SchoolBooking.com. Edited by timbo343
