Dos_Box Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 What about a build your own watch kit? - https://www.esslinger.com/make-my-own-watch-kit/ I'm pretty sure there are others out there too. 1

simpsonj Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 As you mentioned he likes The Grateful Dead (as does my dad) has he seen the Long Strange Trip. It's included with Amazon prime, but I've linked to the DVD/Blu-Ray if you wanted a stocking filler!
Dos_Box Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 What OS does it run? You'll be asking how you charge it next! 1

I was expecting something a bit more complex than that! How about a Hurdy Gurdy kit? https://www.amazon.co.uk/UGears-Hurdy-Gurdy-fledged-musical-instrument/dp/B07771DV5J He might turn out to be the next Patty Gurdy.
witch Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 Hmmm I now realise I only have the Apollo 11 DVD as well as the Planet Rock tickets. Need something else He doesnt really build stuff. We have Amazon prime and Netflix already. Give him something to build and he would probably just ask why? Any new hard sci-fi you could recommend? He enjoys playing Elite - anything that brings to mind?

ICTDirect_Dave Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Any new hard sci-fi you could recommend? If he's not read / watched it yet, get the Expanse Books and maybe a Bluray of the first series? He enjoys playing Elite - anything that brings to mind? Hotas is a good option for elite. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing-accessories/computer-accessories/game-controllers-and-joysticks/thrustmaster-t-flight-hotas-x-joystick-throttle-black-10166585-pdt.html That's a budget stick that'll do most of what you need. You could also get this: https://www.redbubble.com/people/littlepixeluk/works/34898482 it's a little cheaper

witch Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) Hmm. He plays sitting on the sofa so I am not sure a joystick will work? Edited December 18, 2019 by witch
LeMarchand Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 (edited) Hmm. He plays sitting on the sofa so I am not sure a joystick will work? Lapdesk? https://www.amazon.co.uk/COUCHMASTER%C2%AE-Ergonomic-support-including-cushion/dp/B00CCHRJ2Q Link keeps failing; its Couchmaster CYCON - Couch Gaming Lapboard/Lapdesk for Keyboard/Mouse (PC / PS4 / XboxOne) incl. Ergonomic Cushions, Mousepad, 5m Cable (Black Edition) As you can clearly see, ladies love looking on adoringly when their partner is gaming on one of these bad boys. So it's a present for you as well! Edited December 18, 2019 by LeMarchand 3

6Foot2 Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Who's feeling brave then!! It's Christmas @mikeprice – it's the time of miracles, so be of good cheer. 1
stevejp Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 Some might say that being turned into a frog is a miracle all by itself... 1
witch Posted December 18, 2019 Author Posted December 18, 2019 That's a nice suggestion but he sits at the end of the sofa because we have the reclining ends so that wouldnt work I am grateful for all suggestions and do, of course, gaze lovingly at mrwITch whilst he plays elite...why wouldnt I? I'm not that bad really
stevejp Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 That's a nice suggestion but he sits at the end of the sofa because we have the reclining ends so that wouldnt work I am grateful for all suggestions and do, of course, gaze lovingly at mrwITch whilst he plays elite...why wouldnt I? I'm not that bad really You could always buy him a new sofa with ends that don't collapse when you lean on them...?
ICTDirect_Dave Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Hmm. He plays sitting on the sofa so I am not sure a joystick will work? It's a much better way to play the game, though it'll depend what he's playing it on. The joystick I linked to would fit nicely on one of those padded tea trays
LeMarchand Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Although the my post above was primarily humorous, the "side arms" appear to be detachable so you could use one or neither of them. (Though you may balk at the £130+ price). One of the reviewers has it set up in a way that @ICTDirect_Dave may approve of: 1
witch Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Too expensive for me, sadly. I'm looking for something to add to his big present of the Festival Come on guys.....sci fi?
simpsonj Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 From a gaming point of view, he might like Outer Worlds, very Sci-Fi... Or signed book? That said, not sure they would arrive before Christmas now...
FishCustard Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Does he like Star Wars? Jedi Fallen Order perhaps?
mikeprice Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 From a gaming point of view, he might like Outer Worlds, very Sci-Fi... Or signed book? That said, not sure they would arrive before Christmas now... That's OK - get @sonofsanta to knock up a quick international award winner and sign it for you I mean - how hard can it be????? 2
witch Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 Likes the Star Wars films but not super keen - he likes proper old fashioned hard sci-fi Outer Worlds would have been good - but again a bit too expensive for a non-best present!
