Send Recurring Emails?

Hi folks,

 

We have a number of teachers that "forget" to go on duty.

 

The suggestion has been to send them a recurring email when their duty is approaching, but Outlook has no facility to do this (short of visual basic).

 

Anyone have any suggestions of a system that might do this, or an alternative way to remind the teachers?

And this is a technological issue why?

 

I would say ask the member of SLT who manages duty to send compulsory calendar reminders. Obviously you will offer to train them in how to do it :-)

Could they not add a calendar event and set that to recur?

Anything that syncs MIS calendars to Outlook calendars can pull in Duty and Cover etc.

 

I'd use it as an opening to discuss Salamandersoft.

The best system I can think would be to sit them down and say "Remember to your duties or get fired. Off you go now." Or offer to forget to pay them? Or a cattle prod.

 

This is a people issue, not a tech issue. If a person has troubles remembering then they need to find a way that works for them to remember. You put calendar reminders in for them and they will forget to look at them or accidentally turn them off and then it will be your fault and issue to sort.

Please can you make a pop-up appear on PC's to remind staff to logon and check their emails so they see the reminder about doing their duty!

Put a sticker on the kettle that says "Aren't you meant to be on duty?"

I agree all, I think this is a staff (rathert than student) discipline issue. Just wanted to see if I was missing a really obvious app/feature though, as I've been asked the question.
