Renfield-64 Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 We have been using Impero for computer control and to detect suspect words which are being typed in by users. We have still got a year to go on this contract but I want to use something else next year as Impero is so buggy. I did look at Netsupport for the classroom control bit but that doesn't seem to do alerts for words typed in. What do people recommend?
altecsole Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 NetSupport DNA detects keywords and phrases and is great for non-technical safeguarding staff to use. 1
sparkeh Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 NetSupport DNA detects keywords and phrases and is great for non-technical safeguarding staff to use. Yep we use DNA for keyword detection too. I am sure @Al_NetSupport would love to give you some more info. 2
LanSchoolUK_Adam Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Hi Renfield, We have the capabilities you mentioned in LanSchool. - Inbuilt keyword library (user editable) - Keyword alerts for keyword/keyphrase matches - Automatic screenshot-capture when this occurs. - Reports generated of all keyword alerts by students. You can see this in action and an example report . I have PM'd you my details if you'd like to take a closer look - thanks!
noelmm Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 You could take a look at Senso, we moved from Impero to Senso and the transition has been quite smooth. Senso support has also been good and they are always wiling to listen to development ideas and implement them where possible. 1
browolf Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 We're using securus for word detection and it's good. https://www.securus-software.com/
Renfield-64 Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 I used to use Securus for the word detection part of it which was good but I need a solution for classroom management too in the same package really. I will take a look at Senso, NetSupport and Lanschool. Thanks.
dobbyit Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 We use NetSupport, had to convince management to get rid rid of other software first and they love it and I love netsupport 1
aicrd Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 +1 for Senso and Securus. If you're wanting both classroom management and keyword Senso is a good option. They are going to be releasing a new AI threat detection which scans images for violations and determines if they are false positives or not. IE: A student writing an essay on Nazi Germany would set off keyword detection but Senso can tell the difference between a student writing an essay or going onto some propaganda sites. 1
DrCheese Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Switched to Netsupport after the bugtastic impero. Shame it's not improved after 2/3 years! 1
PotNoodleTech Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Switched to Netsupport after the bugtastic impero. Shame it's not improved after 2/3 years! Do you mean shame Netsupport has not improved after 2/3 years??
ibpalle Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Disclaimer, obvious bias is obvious: Smoothwall offers a few products that should be interesting - if you are using Smoothwall webfilter already, those would be a good fit. If not, they still would be a good fit
DrCheese Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Do you mean shame Netsupport has not improved after 2/3 years?? No apology's that's what I get for wording things half asleep! Netsupport was fine from the start & has also improved a lot over the past few years - The team are always happy to help/take feedback & I've not really had any major bugs with it It's a shame that Impero haven't improved their bugtasticness after 2/3 years - Originally the bugs cropped up after they had to do a major rebuild of the software to fix some glaring security issues (Well documented online) but it started getting a bit silly after they kept reoccuring almost a year afterwards. To hear that it's still causing headaches is a massive shame. 1
jonemery99 Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 +1 for NetSupport looked at the whole range of products. they did everything we wanted and the support has been excellent. Every school in the trust has it now! 1
MunkySpanner Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 +1 for Netsupport Been deployed for 6 months now after moving from Impero. It's like night and day performance wise and so far has been pretty much fit and forget. Basically, it just works, which gets my thumbs up every time. 2
