Took me about half a day, virtual machine, so expandable storage. Allocated 8 cores and 16gb Ram.

 

Similar setup took around 2 days to finish everything :).... Solid as rock since then.....

Mine took me a couple of days.

 

Our network contains:

 

14 Servers

850 Computers

 

I delegated SCCM about 8 cores and 24GB RAM and HDD is 1TB.

SCCM is by far the best tool we ever used so it’s recommended.

SCCM Is huge and complex (and well worth the effort) I wonder how much background reading had taken place before you guys knocked it out in “2 days”?

 

Also which features did you deploy and which did you leave unconfigured?

 

Beyond MDT, app deployment and windows 10 updates/upgrades, SCCM is an essential bridge to Azure/Office365 if you’ve got hundreds of computers to manage.

2 days seems about right, working through one of the online walkthrough guides you can find on a search the this forum a link to. We had ours setup a long time ago but pretty sure it took a couple days and then I spend a day every year just doing maintenance, SCCM updates and making things clean and organised. Checking everything is running correctly etc.

 

Just about to setup a new distribution point to spread the load as we found when imaging it can take a beating. However the server hosting SCCM is still only connected at 1gb whereas the others are 10gb, so will be changing the network on the existing too.

 

We probably use about 500gb just in software storage. Then windows updates and os deployment adds a fair bit of storage too.

300 devices. And I can't remember the actual cost but I'm sure it was peanuts.

 

We use it for controlling Windows Defender as well as imaging and deploying applications. I'd agree with 2 days following the Windows-Noob guides.

Half a day for the first try, then realising you missed something, wiping it and starting again. Then about a day or so to get it right. Use one of the tutorials at windows-noob.com and it works quite well.

about 800 stations, and 21'ish server VM's

Windows-noob.com is your friend.

 

About a couple of days to get it up and running and a lifetime of tinkering :) We use it for Deployment of OS, we used to use it for software as well, that was until we got the Amazing PDQ Deploy and inventory.

If you have an OVS-ES/EES license, with the Core CAL suite (which is included in the desktop pack), then you are licensed for it already for all clients. The only thing you pay extra for is management licenses if you want to manage your servers with it as well. We buy this as a "CIS" bundle for our servers - it includes the datacenter edition of Windows Server and management licenses, but you can buy the management licenses separately.

 

CIS Datacenter Core is £53.72 per pair of cores.

Licencing was minimal.. maybe £200. Its also not just OS deployment. It is Software deployment, reports etc, etc.

It also replaced our AV, so we manage defender through it. Saved us more than the licencing instantly.

Main school with SCCM is 400 devices, 800 users

Ours is 6 cores, 16 GB RAM, 500GB HDD. Only managing 150 pcs however at no extra cost it was a no brainer. Initial setup took a day or so but took a while to get my head round it

We are a small secondary school of about ~650 students, with ~300 desktops and ~200 laptops/tablets. I can't recommend SCCM enough. It makes life so much easier to not only deploy Windows and manage Windows Updates, but it also manages our application deployments and endpoint protection (which requires extra licensing on top of the SCCM ones). SCCM can do much more than those that I've listed, but they're what I use it for most of the time.

 

It will take you time to get to grips how SCCM works once it's all installed and had it's initial configuration. The things that took me the longest to understand were; Task Sequences to deploy and customise operating systems, collections to group/organise computers (especially the WQL queries) to deploy applications/updates/settings to, creating/deploying applications that don't use MSI (and having to specify the switches and defining a custom detection method), Endpoint Protection (SCEP...which requires additional licensing on top of SCCM) and Software Updates (which takes over the WSUS role) to manage and deploy updates for Windows, Office and endpoint protection. I've not been on any training for it, just learnt as I go and have been using it for over 4 years now.

currently installed 2019 and the sql database thats about it, my network is about 165 pcs/laptops with 2 hosts and 10 vms.

 

mainly going to be using it for deployment, updates, software rollout. I hope :)
