Morning,

Our SIMS server is installed using Windows 2008R2 server and needs updating or replacing with a hosted version of SIMS.

We can arrange a demo of the hosted SIMS but are concerned about the performance.

Is anybody using hosted SIMS or is planning on moving to hosted SIMS or waiting for the full new web based SIMS?

Thanks Darren

As our schools have joined our trust, we have moved them from hosted to local SIMS. Hosted SIMS is terrible.

Installing SIMS server is easy and documentation is availbe on MyAccount for migrations etc.

Yes we can just setup a new server it was an opportunity to look at other options. I was hoping that Sims would have a web based version we could look at? We already have hosted Sims using RDS in the school.

I think we will just build a new server in the school until Sims have developed a proper web based version.

Just curious why do you think Hosted SIMS is terrible? Performance?

Support: It's rubbish and everything takes ages to resolve as it bounces around departments at Capita.

Logging in: takes ages to get into SIMS id, then ages for the remote connection to establish.

Using it: is slow. Laggy. Times out.

Costs: you pay for SIMS as usual and then have a fortune on top for hosting (a fortune being a LOT of money per user)

Er, good list for starters

Used hosted SIMS for years through SCOmis. Have none of the things mentioned above. Have the odd issue which is usually resolved pretty quickly. Would never go back

Been using hosted and local sims at my schools no issues just initial teething problems, looking to run the full web version side by side our existing hosted and local installations in October then let the schools decide if they are happy to jump on the full sims web bandwagon.
