Good timimg, I'm contemplating setup of a OpenVPN server at home for remote access based on a Pi. Already have 2, one running Home Assistant and another running Kali.

Looks like the 4GB models are selling out quickly. I was seconds away from clicking submit for one on The Pi Hut when it suddenly flashes up with an Out of Stock message.

 

Ooooh so annoyed.

I think the only reason Pimoroni still has stock is due to their 1 per customer limit.

Quite naturally it will be yeah. Very impressed with these specs; may buy one to see if, with it's hardware native h.265 encoding, it could replace my core i5 laptop as my cctv server.

We currently use RPis to stream a matrix of live CCTV feeds on TV screens at our reception desks. Mounted in dinky VESA cases and powered by the TV's USB port. The model we're using can only manage three concurrent feeds, so this new model might be decent upgrade if it has the grunt to provide more.

Strange they built more of the 2gb model than the 4gb. The flagship was always going to be more in demand.

This is exactly what we do at the moment too - we have 4 feeds going to a screen from unifi CCTV cameras. Think its a 3B+ we're running.

I only really use a pi 2 for my unifi controller/pihole at home and a pi 3 for retropie... be interesting to see how good this is as a TV desktop/web browser.... else it'll be bumped up to a retropie

I had a previous generation one but I haven't really used it much as I found the performance kind of poor. The upgraded CPU and 4Gb RAM should make this a far more usable device when running browsers/apps/etc though.

The Flirc case looks really good. I was just about to pre-order one, but then saw the shipping costs/times.

 

 

I assume The Pi Hut will sell the v4 case since they already sell Flirc cases for the 3B/3B+?
