Primus Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 This isn't Google making mistakes here - CPOMS have to be doing something odd at the very least for this to keep happening. 2
localzuk Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Loading one of our CPOMS sites in Edge and having a look at the source shows nothing untoward - there's some tracking stuff in there from New Relic, a link to Google's JS API, and it uses Polyfill for some other JS stuff. It has CSRF baked in, to prevent cross site forgery too. Looks totally fine from that side of things.
southhamster Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Yes, our google workspace alert centre has told me that emails sent from [email protected] at 13:35 were flagged as phishing/email. Let's hope it get sorted quickly - staff will need to update each other manually about incidents and update later. I'm loath to just whitelist CPOMS in case there is a problem...
Primus Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 There must be a reason why Google are repeatedly flagging them. 1
paulkerton Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Looks like there is something at their side that's triggering Google's filtering. You can point fingers of something wrong at Google's side, but the odds are it isn't.
Griff Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 I reinstalled latest version of Chrome and the message has now gone..
ste_hendo Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 Also had issues with Cpoms emails today. I ran a SPF check & it's giving errors for cpoms.net; relating to the use of PTR records in DNS. Wonder if Google has decided this isn't acceptable anymore?
dhicks Posted April 21, 2021 Posted April 21, 2021 This isn't Google making mistakes here My guess would be that CPOMS' (quite neat and reasonable) system of using "schoolname.cpoms.net" for each school-spcecific login page has triggered Google's phishing-spotting algorithm - it looks like an external domain name, but contains elements of the school's domain name, and is probably being passed around in email in GMail a fair bit, I can see how that's getting flagged. They might do better to use "login.cpoms/net/schoolname", or maybe allow individual schools to point DNS entries (cpoms.schoolname.com) at their servers.
Danp Posted April 22, 2021 Author Posted April 22, 2021 I had to ring them on Tuesday as our sync had failed (again), they said something about having a new server. Then I too saw the problems yesterday with chrome saying the site is not save and emails before removed from Gmail. May or may not be connected.
Danp Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 Anyone else having repeated problems with sync to CPOMS? I've had to try and check it everyday to see if it's working, which it's not and hasn't since 3rd May. I have emailed a support request as I don't mind if it doesn't work for a few days, but I'm going to have to call them as this is too long now. 1

We use iSAMS, which provides an API endpoint for CPOMS to call, so nothing for us to maintain / worry about at this end. However, now you mention it, looking at the API dashboard in iSAMS I see the last API call from CPOMS was on the 26th of April, which might imply something at their end needs prodding.

As you say, there should be no need for me to do anything, but I'm finding myself having the check most days as I don't want to find out after 3 or 4 weeks it's not been working. I phoned them yesterday afternoon and they forced a sync. Considering it's meant to run every day, this is not great.
PrimaryNetMan Posted June 21, 2021 Posted June 21, 2021 Yes, with "Unexpected error, We're currently experiencing stability issues, we're working as hard as possible to resolve them as soon as possible."
Danp Posted June 21, 2021 Author Posted June 21, 2021 Email received at 14:25 As your School's listed main contact, we wanted to email to let you know that we are aware of an issue at our data centre provider which is currently impacting on our schools ability to access CPOMS, and our ability to put an update on our status page. The provider are aware and we hope will be able to provide a resolution as soon as is possible. As soon as we have further information we will provide you with an update, but we wanted to let you know so that you are able to communicate to your staff as soon as is possible. Thanks CPOMS
