DalekSec Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 https://blog.papercut.com/digital-delights-and-productivity-heights-with-papercut-19-0/ Been waiting for these features for awhile! OCR When scanning is a godsend for exams and now you can change account at the printer means we can finally roll out mobility printing for staff, been only for students since we've had it. 2
MartinT Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Nice - OCR scanning is a great additional feature. Downloading the 19.0.1 upgrade now.
Wubbalubbadub Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Sweet, i am doing the upgrade now. Thanks for the heads up.
andy_b Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Just be mindful if you have 32bit OS at all: https://www.papercut.com/kb/Main/EndOfLife32BitOperatingSystems 1
MartinT Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Just be mindful if you have 32bit OS at all: No problem here, just a couple of tablets used in the labs which don't need to print. 32-bit is dead!
DalekSec Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 FYI System requirements if you want to change account at printer:
DalekSec Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 Anyone managed to get account selection working at the printer when printing from mobility print? I've made the key changes but still won't work...
junz Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 Anyone managed to get account selection working at the printer when printing from mobility print? I've made the key changes but still won't work... I believe you have to upgrade Papercut Embedded on your printers. If you could tell me the model of your printer and i can provide a guide to do this.
DalekSec Posted April 9, 2019 Author Posted April 9, 2019 I believe you have to upgrade Papercut Embedded on your printers. If you could tell me the model of your printer and i can provide a guide to do this. I'm sure the embedded version updated, it says 19.0 on the printer client. The printer i'm testing on is a HP Color LaserJet MFP E87640
junz Posted April 9, 2019 Posted April 9, 2019 I am referring to the actual software on the printer. If you click on the first result on the search below hopefully this should point you in the right direction. https://www.google.com/search?biw=1680&bih=896&ei=NMCsXOuyL6ml1fAP7f6SgAg&q=papercut+hp+embedded+manual&oq=papercut+jp+embedded+manual&gs_l=psy-ab.1.0.0i13j0i8i13i30l2.4717.6587..7543...0.0..0.55.152.3......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71j0i7i30j0i8i30.yqzEENv4n4Y

We've only ever had to install firmware for them or the info files for the printer to point to papercut. On the papercut screen on the printer it reads 19.0.1, same as the server
Big_Ted Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 you only need to upgrade some platforms (embedded platforms) others are web services and upgrade when the server updates. also - install 19.0.2
DalekSec Posted April 11, 2019 Author Posted April 11, 2019 Found the problem in the end.... Mobility print hadn't updated to the latest version + we had a tick box set on the mobile print queue to pay on personal account...
MartinT Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Does anyone know what mantra is needed in Smoothwall to be able to activate PaperCut cloud services? I've done all the obvious, opened port 443, whitelisted cloud.papercut.com but I keep getting a 'no internet connection' error.
Big_Ted Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 https://www.papercut.com/kb/Main/FirewallPorts should have it all, there are a few to do. 1
mullet_man Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 Unfortunately I've still got some crappy 32bit machines I've followed the KB and downloaded the latest version compatable on from the PaperCut website but am getting a client cannot be started error. Not sure what's happening. Just a heads up if anyone else needs to still use 32bit just to check before deploying out.

It does give a warning before install saying it will no longer work on 32bit clients
mullet_man Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 It does give a warning before install saying it will no longer work on 32bit clients Yeah am following there KB and downloading there last client version that works with 32bit, version 18.3.8 I think. Am just doing some testing and it looks like it's something going wrong with the way am upgrading the old clients via SCCM, if I remove and re-install it works fine. If I let SCCM upgrade to the latest version it's breaking something. I mean if all else fails I can just leave them on 18.1 which is the version installed. My 64bit machines are all working fine so it's something relating to 32bit.
MYK-IT Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 Upgraded last week to 19.0, then 19.0.1 and 19.0.2. Whilst (kind of) working, we have had members of staff still unable to print from various computers. They get the print option screen, to select department etc. but then don't get the final 'print release' notification from the follow-me printer - therefore no prints available when they go to the MFD. I'm still investigating (like checking the pc client software is the newer one, noted that its gone from v18.8 to v100.x, not v19.x) and determining if specific to our follow-me queue etc. Just wondered if any one else has similar / other issues with the new PaperCut 19 release? Many Thanks.
MartinT Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 I gave up on the cloud OCR solution and installed the local OCR software (Wollemi) on the same server as PaperCut and that's working a treat. I went around upgrading all our copiers to PaperCut 2.4 to ensure that the menus work properly. The results are mostly good but can result in pure gobbledegook if the original text is not great.
mukz Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 We have the cloud version working, changed the datacenter location to EU and alot of scanning issues we were having have gone.
pete Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I've got local OCR working with scanning to disk, but scanning-to-email I'm seeing SendAsDeniedException in server.log. I think PaperCut's attempting to send OCR'd documents as the user (whoever@whatever), rather than the account it's supposed to use and Office 365 is saying GTFO (as it should). Documents that aren't OCR'd transmit fine (and our attachment limits in 365 are generous enough). Is anyone: Using Office 365 and having PaperCut talk to it directly via a dedicated papercut@whatever account for authentication with Office 365 Successfully sending non-OCR'd scan-to-email documents Succeeding in getting OCR'd documents delivered?
MartinT Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 I tested the principle for you - we have on-premises Exchange 2016 and local PaperCut OCR. I successfully sent both a PDF (non-OCR) scan and a DOCX (OCR) scan to my e-mail. Both came through fine. 1
pete Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 ^ Are you using authentication on the connector PaperCut talks to on Exchange or is it a "if it comes from $papercut_server, allow the email"?
DrCheese Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 Since upgrading PC-App.exe hogs CPU usage up on our server, starts around 30% then overtime reaches 100% which eventually causes the server to have a heart attack. Weirdly it looks like it's trying to send broadcasts en mass as it also pumping out around 30mb/sec doing so on the network cards. I've got it logged with Papercut but will likely revert our VM to the 18.3 install if I don't hear further from them before we go back (unlikely due the holidays)
