kidpressingbuttons Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 In need of some more ram for my Dell R540. Have contacted Dell but who else would people recommend?
steveg Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 I haven't brought any server RAM in quite some time, but always used to buy it from Crucial, much cheaper and they guaranteed compatibility. Steve 1
Fazza Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Any supplier should be able to get Dell Server RAM. AMC, PLAN-IT, ACS-365, Insight, Moon Computers, Total Computers, ServerSource, UK Computer Supplies...
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 If you know the Speed and rank of your current memory, drop me a PM. We've got some 16 DDR4 server DIMMs in stock right now
SHimmer45 Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 Upgrade Options worth a phone call. used them for keeping a few elderly Dell boxes going.
mukz Posted February 12, 2019 Posted February 12, 2019 In need of some more ram for my Dell R540. Have contacted Dell but who else would people recommend? Do you need your ram to be covered by the warranty you have on the server? Im pretty sure that if its not done against the service tag dell wont support that ram module - happened to me last time but you can always complain and usually they will take ur side
PotNoodleTech Posted February 13, 2019 Posted February 13, 2019 Yes it's all about the warranty, if you don't buy from dell it will probably void your dell warranty. If there's no warranty left on it then I'd go second hand from ICT Direct, Serversource or IT In Stock. 1

DrBeaker Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) In need of some more ram for my Dell R540. Have contacted Dell but who else would people recommend? For work - I use Crucial. For home - I use Crucial. Never had any issues. Last time I brought some for a home device that wasn't from Crucial - it was faulty from the get-go, so always now Crucial. Maybe a bit tiny teeny weeny more expensive than sourcing it from other suppliers - but what's the point? For me my time's more valuable than saving a few quid - especially if for work stuff, the customer service and hassle-free experience from them is worth the extra price IMHO. ICTDirect_Dave Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Rock Hall Ltd Advertise on eBay, but also own website and vat registered etc. Always been good for us Rock Hall offer a similar service to our Bargain, except they buy their components from other companies like us rather than direct at source like we do. In theory that should mean I'll always be able to give you a better price than they will for the same stuff
