Hi Guys just wondered if anyone knows the cost of Impero education pro. We are a small IT Support company providing support to schools. We are tendering for a secondary school, and quite hopeful of winning the tender. One of the things we wanted to look at was the cost of network management and monitoring tools, e-saftey etc.. So as a guesstimate lets say 400 machines and say a 3 year subscription. What would be the cost of implementation.

Thanks for your help.

I am sure each quote is bespoke to each school so your probably best contacting them direct, but each machine for 700 devices was about £3.30 each for us the last time I spoke to them with a significant discount the longer you bought into a contract 3 / 5 years etc.

Hi. Have you had a look at Netsupport? DNA is a fantastic product for education and recently launched some great updates on the esafety side. Will keep track of hardware, software, web monitoring etc etc. @Matt_NetSupport will do a good deal Edited by karldenton

+1 for Netsupport DNA - The e-safety feature has helped us pick up on quite a lot of stuff that may have been missed lately & we use it every day for remote support. Some good improvements coming down the line looking at BETT too.

Impero was a buggy mess when we used it - Release after release would fix a few bugs but introduce new and exciting ones. Became more of a headache than a benefit. Tried Securus for a while for the e-safety bit but features were constantly promised and never delivered. Hadn't really changed since 2006.

I would definitely look around but another +1 for netsupport. Having used Impero, I would say netsupport, especially DNA offers really value for money.

Works across our thin and fat client network, and our techinicans use it daily for remote support due to the size of our site.

Hi @EducationTech

+1 for NetSupport

A school we encompassed into our academy trust we’re using (and having major issues with) Impero and whilst I don’t want to get into an Impero bashing, they were shown NetSupport and the choice was pretty unanimous and we haven’t looked back.

We also deploy their Helpdesk and Notify apps across the trust.

What I will add is that their staff are fantastic, from the main man Al Kingsley to all of the support team we have ever had to deal with, which to be fair I can count on one hand in the last 12 months across our trust.

Two words that cause so much grief:

DLL Injection.

Having seem various products (AB Tutor, Vision) they all seem to be root kits.

I wish Microsoft would provide classroom management via Configmgr.

Net Support looked good but didn't do desktop utilisation reports which Impero does.

What sort of reports were you looking for? I have produced a custom report for several of our customers which shows the amount of time a machine has been logged in for over a certain period. I'd be more than happy to make this available to you or any of our other customers if you want to PM me with your email address.

another +1 for NetSupport DNA. Great product and can do so much more than we have figured so far.

Great Remote Control product (inc remote registry editor)

Great e-safety product

Great Inventory product

Great Software Distribution product

Not got to grips with NetSupport School yet - needs quite a bit of setting up/deploying.

Not deployed NetSupport Notify yet as we are using InTouch but am going to move across to NSN.

Great support.

@turnerr12 Thank you for the kind words, it's great to hear that DNA is surpasing your expectations.

Both NetSupport School and NetSupport Notify have the ability to be configured via Group Policy which can make the configuration much easier for larger deployments. You will also have the added advantage of not needing to reconfigure any settings should you need to reimage any of your machines. If you contact our Support Team they would be more than happy to arrange a remote session and guide you through the process of getting this setup.

Net Support looked good but didn't do desktop utilisation reports which Impero does.

Depending on what you're looking for as desktop utilisation, LanSchool does this in the following areas;

- Desktop user login history

- Desktop login time/date/duration

- Uitilisation (total uptime)

- Program usage (by user, by PC)

- Program utilisation (by time)

- Application usage (by user, by PC)

- Application utilisation (by time)

- Hardware inventory (by PC and by network)

- Software inventory (by PC and by network)

- Licensing details (installed versions, installed counts etc).

Would be keen to know if your requirements go further than the above as it's one of the areas we're currently developing on right now, so a perfect opportunity to flesh it out further if there is something obvious that we have missed :)

Hi Guys just wondered if anyone knows the cost of Impero education pro.

We paid about £1,000 for 116 computers and 4 consoles but I think that was with some discount applied if that gives you a general idea. Currently looking at Senso cloud and very likely we will come away from Impero.
