torledo Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Nuff said. they're unbeatable at the bridge, so you knew once it went to extra time it was either going to go to penalties in which case you'd look to see which team had the most germans to pick a winner (chelsea) or chelsae would win it in extra time because as i said they don't lose at the bridge. The result was quite predictable once the regulation time finished....plus liverpool team looked shot to pieces by the end of the 90.
reggiep Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 As a neutral it was a fantastic game to watch. Bring on the final.
GrumbleDook Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Boo ... Hiss ... As long as you beat the SCUM I'll be polite about it all though.
strawberry Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Boo ... Hiss ... As long as you beat the SCUM I'll be polite about it all though. would have thought you would have been a red with the family ties, unless your a white?. get in chelsea!
GrumbleDook Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 would have thought you would have been a red with the family ties, unless your a white?. get in chelsea! I'm a red, a blue and a white ... it used to be Tranmere on a friday night and then whoever was at home on the saturday. But as long as Man U don't win the Premiership or the European Championship I will breath easy over the summer whilst we dream of the glories of winning the league and europe, winning the UEFA cup and getting promotion to the Championship. And this is before we get onto my wife and her hatred of Pompey and desire to see the Saints survive this year.
flashsnaps Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I am Man u, but really wanted Liverpool to win as I hate Chelsea (especially drogba). Last night was an amazing game, but could of been a different story, 2 good penalty shouts Babel was tripped by essien and then hyypia by drogba, ref even put his whistle to his mouth for the 2nd!
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I'm a neutral but really don't like Chelsea especially Drogba - that said, he did well last night and stayed on his feet for most the time. Babels was never a penalty, Essien was having the game of his life and made a perfect tackle. Hyypia's was a penalty on the other hand. Essien's strike was offside but should never have gotten the chance because there was no way in hell that was a Chelsea corner. Plus, Drogba's first goal was offside - not Drogba himself, the man who played the ball (forgotten who it was). Liverpool looked very weary after 90 minutes but when they got one back it was GAME ON. Shame it was too late. I also thought the referee had a very soft game blowing for anything and everything. Drogba and Essien were the only two that really performed for Chelsea on the night. That said, Chelsea did the business and deserved the win. So as much as I hate Chelsea, well done to all you supporters out there.
flashsnaps Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I also thought the referee had a very soft game blowing for anything and everything. They should get Premiership refs to do these games, this game and same as last week in the first leg - the refs were poor, they blow for everything. Final in Moscow? What are they thinking? all English fans are going to need Visas to travel there - they that 4-5weeks to come through, final is in 3weeks.

I too was not impressed with the refs... and the comentators really got on my nerves, banging on about Chelsea this, Chelsea that
sidewinder Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Get in, great game!! So so glad Liverpools luck has finally run out, and Chelsea were the better team on the night Sorry but how was Essien's goal offside? None of the players in an offside position had anything to do with it!
cookie_monster Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 they're unbeatable at the bridge I agree they're tough at the bridge but it still looked like a penalty that won it to me, without that i smelled danger. Great game for a neutral though, come on you rams!!! OH!!!

I hope chelsea win both the league and champs league,
Elky Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 And this is before we get onto my wife and her hatred of Pompey and desire to see the Saints survive this year. Scummers going down, scummers going down, super Pompey staying up, and we'll win the FA Cup
WelshTechie Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Totally gutted about the result. To come back into the game so strongly and then lose in extra time, while not getting a deserved penalty (Drogba's trip on Hyypia) is hard to take. I'm confining myself to the office today as we have a few gloating mancs around here and i have no interest in what they have to say today.
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Sorry but how was Essien's goal offside? None of the players in an offside position had anything to do with it! Because there were 3 men in an offside position, by about 2 3 and 5 yards! Fair enough they didn't touch the ball, but they clearly blocked Reina's sight and lessened his chances of getting to the ball. Now the rules clearly state - You are offside when in an offside position AND interfering with play. 3 men! ALL interfering with play. Now as for whoever said "these commentators are doing my nut in" (not exactly those words - If I EVER bump into Andy Gray he's getting 5 of the best from me. I can't stand the man! Him and Alan Hanson!

Inbir316 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 liverpool fan here. we played pretty well 2nd half onwards but alas wasnt meant to be. drogba played well and i was actually impressed. and i felt for lampard when he scored the pen was almost in tears myself lol! cheslea were due luck against us in this competition and rightly so they got it! good luck to the final to both teams hope cheslea dont play their usual boring stuff!

sidewinder Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 drogba was only one interfering in play by jumping up in front of pepé rightly awarded for offside! fair enough i didnt see a lot of replays on my slovakian stream over the internet lol but have seen it again and yeh Drogba was in front of Reina. The others wernt interfering imo though
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 We watched it on Sky sidewinder and I have to say, the amount of replays was ridiculous - basically showed replays of the goals and when Gerrard pushed Avram over. That was it - couldn't believe. You are sat on the edge of the seat thinking was he offside and you'll never truly know!
sidewinder Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Probably the same pictures then, think all the broadcasters use the same video stream...and yeah its ridiculous. I often notice that with european games. Compared to Sky where they have replays of every little thing
Guest kerrymoralee9280 Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Fair enough it being the same video stream - but surely Sky have the technology to replay what they record at their peril?
