does it definately say its a paper jam because we have a few of these printers. do you just get the red light on the printer?. or are you using the brother print monitor to diagnose the fault?

Yes re-imaging i have considered but that would certainly be my last resort, it has alot of software etc.. on the pc. I Would like to really understand the problem to be honest and fix it and get to the bottom of it that way.

Not exactly as per title but we have a strange problem with MS Word 2010 on one PC Setup Shared colour printer for office (installed on Win 2003 server) 5 Win 7 pcs mapped to printer via script printer maps ok to all printers Printer not set to default printer Fault Open up word 2010 and select print\select colour printer\print, job prints fine to all other 4 pcs, but on one pc when selecting print\colour printer\print this causes word to crash (not responding) On problem pc if you select colour printer as default printer THEN launch MS word then print job prints okay. Put it back to the default printer for all PCs and it wont print Steps to resolve problem Re-installed print drivers locally (using advanced print driver and full drivers/software package) repaired MS Office package other Office packages (excel, PPT) print fine without any problem Anyone any ideas as to why this could be causing an issue on this one PC?

We have had 1 Windows update been synchronised to our WUS Server on Tuesday for the last two weeks that has come down to the WUS Server but nothing has appeared on the clients. Could someone check whether they have received update (KB2813347) on their server and weather they have had the update come down to their clients for install? We are running Windows 2003 (for the WUS Server) and Win XP SP3 and Win7 SP1. Reading the spec sheet of the update it says that this is an update for Remote Desktop version 6.1 (for Winxp sP3) which is the version on our Winxp clients. Within the the WUS console it shows this update as expired so does this mean that it should not pull down to the clients?? Thanks in advance Phil

i would serioulsy be looking at this being a capacitor issue, do you have one that is out of warranty? if so it might be worth swapping the 3 capacitors and seeing if you have anymore problems, this seems VERY similar to our issues with these pcs

we have also had that aswell, but usually with a slightly different model. when the RAM is re-seated then pc works fine. Ours are several years out of waranty so it was either scrap them or give it whirl with the capacitors seemed to have done the trick for us. Our method was to cut the capaitors in half and them pull them off leaving the legs attached then soldering the news caps on.

We have a batch of E3510`s which have very similar problems to the one you have. In our case it was the 3 capacitors on the Motherboard which was the problem. The error we had was the whirling sound upon boot up and also the power completely cutting out within about 30 secs of boot up. Changing the capacitors did the trick for us and makes the PC usable again. You can tell if its the capacitors by checking the top of them to see if they are swollen, if so then you need to change them. you can pick them up on line (bag of 10/20) for little as £10 online. Hi guys, could do with a bit of advice regarding this virus, our school has been infected late last week, having spent most of the weekend fighting the virus by disconnecting the network it appeared yesterday and promptly infected every pc that we had disinfected. We have followed the MS advice and also sophos, after recieving the virus, and viewing the enterprise console we - 1. disconnected each device 2.patched all pcs up MS patch then disconnected each pc from patch lead 3.did a full sophos scan and disinfected PC (virus was caught in sophos quarantine) 4.rebooted pc, and (after all network was clean) added each pc back to network. to stop the virus we have done - 1.stopped "task scheduler" through group policy to stop "A*" schedules running 2.disabled file and print sharing 3. disbale usb devices and cd/dvd drives to stop virus spreading 4.stopped autorun on PCs from removable devices although we have done all the above the virus appeared again yesterday one of many questions we would like answers for is - 1.if we leave the virus in quarantine what implications would we have if we left it untill april easter? (we have already had the occasional account lockouts) help would be appreciated cheers phil
