Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if our EES agreements cover us to assign an A1 Plus faculty license to a governor, to include ProPlus 365 client download? I was asked the question today and although my gut feeling is yes, I'm not 100% certain. Surely some schools must use O365 Teams and SharePoint etc for governor collaboration, and therefore require the ability to do this? (We don't - we use Trust Governor).

Thanks!

Seems a bit of an odd situation. We can't include them in our FTE count because they aren't employees. But we need them in our FTE count if we want to license them in O365.

Schools who are using O365 for governor collaboration - what are you doing in terms of O365 licensing?

At a guess, you'd need to license them as add-ons (with associated cost). The cost of a few A3 licenses won't be a killer, but I can't see how you'd be legitimately covered otherwise. Edited by 3s-gtech

Ok, there looks to be confusion here. Office 365 is not based on FTE, in fact unless you want advanced features, it's free for schools.

Now, OVS-ES licensing is a different kettle of fish, which is what I think people are getting confused over, most of us for this order the Desktop pack which provides Windows upgrade, Office and Server CAL license for the school owned devices. OVS-ES FTE calcuations, which last I checked was if a member of staff uses a computer for work for 200 hours a year (which would be the equivalent to at 1 hour a school day, or 5 hours a school week).

It's specifically the 365 ProPlus client I am after rather than the online functionality. The governor in question doesn't have office on her personal computer and wants to use it for her governor work. It's a legitimate request. The free A1 licenses in O365 don't include ProPlus, only the online apps. We get ProPlus O365 via free SKUs on our EES agreement? I recently requested A1 Plus licenses from Microsoft so I can do device based activation (which was approved) - however they've said I need to continue adding the ProPlus SKUs on our EES agreement because that is part of their validation check for A1 Plus entitlement.

Our EES agreement provided us with Office 365 A1 for X (free cost, but have to activate it each year)

But we also get the Office 365 A1 Plus for X which includes the rights to download the client and is not part of the EES validation check.

The way I look at is, your FTE count might be 60 but you have 70 staff (Job shares, part time workers etc). So are you only going to give 60 staff 365 ProPlus licences? Or all 70? What about students? They get a licence but you don't included them in FTE.

Why does Microsoft give us an unlimted number of these licences if we need to limit them by FTE number? As long as your EES agreement numbers are correct (At the time of renewal remember, no all year round) then they grant you ProPlus licences to use how you want. Keep it within reason and Microsoft won't worry about it and change the rules.
