[1809, ou] Chrome constantly freezes loading webpages

We've recently put Windows 10 on the network, but now we have this sudden issue with Google Chrome. When loading pages, especially big pages (and especially pages with lots of adverts, such as tabloid newspapers), the Chrome process hangs for 1-10 seconds, quite a number of times. So loading the Daily Mail homepage can take something like 40-50 seconds. This doesn't seem to be an issue on Firefox or other browsers.

 

Is this an issue anybody else is experiencing? Is there anything to resolve it? I've used the Developer Tools and it seems Time To First Byte (TTFB) is taking all of the time, but it's not a networking issue since other domain machines behind the same internet connection can load the page almost instantly.

I've noticed this on my work PC recently - Chrome just becomes incredibly laggy - scrolling pauses and page rendering grinds to a halt.Doesn't happen on IE or Firefox and I'm yet to find a fix I'm afraid. It only started about 4 weeks ago so I suspect an update (either chrome or W10) is to blame.

Are you getting the "Waiting for proxy tunnel" message?

 

Does installing an adblocker make any difference?

I think it's down to the adverts on the sites you're visiting. I get a noticeable pause on some newspaper websites with lots of adverts, but not on many other sites.
