mikeprice Posted September 5, 2018 Posted September 5, 2018 Salisbury Novichok poisoning: Two Russian nationals named as suspects - BBC News No great surprise - but I doubt it will make much difference - most of Europe needs to get gas etc from Russia so won't do much to annoy them and the USA has other concerns so won't do much unless Trump wants to shout and moan to deflect attention from [select * from enquiries_about _Trumps_behaviour]

mikeprice Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Skripal suspects: 'We were just tourists' - BBC News The way they talked about the tourist attraction like the cathedral made it sound like they had just read the Wikipedia page before the interview or is that just me?
3s-gtech Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Yes of course, because these guys would travel to Salisbury for an hour to look at a fairly unexceptional cathedral then go back. That would totally fit.
DalekSec Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 a fairly unexceptional cathedral YOU TAKE THAT BACK! Since 1549, the cathedral has had the tallest church spire in the United Kingdom, at 404 feet (123m). Visitors can take the "Tower Tour" where the interior of the hollow spire, with its ancient wood scaffolding, can be viewed. The cathedral also has the largest cloister and the largest cathedral close in Britain at 80 acres (32 ha).[2] It contains a clock which is among the oldest working clocks in the world, and has the best surviving of the four original copies of Magna Carta.[2] In 2008, the cathedral celebrated the 750th anniversary of its consecration.[3 1
3s-gtech Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Meh. It doesn't slowly expand open to reveal a hidden nuclear missile, so what interest would it be to Russian spies? An exceptional cathedral would have, like, lasers and stuff. 1
Andrew_C Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 It was the tallest building in the WORLD for a very long time.

An exceptional cathedral would have, like, lasers and stuff. How do you know it hasn't? It is exceptionally beautiful, and may well have hidden missiles or whatever - just ask @AJWhite1970 He works in the shadow of the cathedral so maybe his school is a front for some sort of defence organisation 1

mikeprice Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Every time I see the clip showing the 'tourists' explaining why they had visited the wonderful 123m tall cathedral I see them - but the voices I hear are the meekcats Sergai and Alexander or is that just me??

Glad everyone OK, can see why the authorities reacted how they did, still no guarantees that there aren't other bottles still hidden in the city or surrounding areas despite all the reassurances we keep getting given
