Yes... because an IT Printing system which would be just for printing a document, must also magically scan for spelling errors... pull the other one.

What sort of response is that??? No printing system that I have ever seen has a printer that changes the data.

 

Unless it has been connected to Alexa (or other systems that I haven't got) and it is her fault

The amount of error strewn stuff that gets sent out from my school is farcical. We spent over £500 in texts to parents issuing apologies and corrections. It gives the whole school a bad name when things don't get proof read.

It's pretty sad that these people will just openly lie to peoples faces rather than admit a proofread check didn't happen.

I used to work for a team whose job included fixing problems that other IT teams had caused or come across and couldn't deal with

Many teams interpreted this as 'if it all starts to go horribly wrong - call TSG and then blame them for not being able to fix it'

 

frequently we still got the blame even when we successfully fixed it!!

 

very proud of our record in that team - in 15 years we never failed to respond to a request for help, never implemented a system that didn't work (although there were sometime a few 'undocumented feature' for a short time) and never implemented a system late (damn close at times - but never late!)

I am irrationally enraged by this. A poor workman always blames his tools. Printers are just machines - they spit out what you put in. If you don't proof-read your template letter it's obviously going to be printed as-is. It's ridiculous to blame a new 'printing system' for human error. I'm also irrationally enraged by the levying of fines to parents that take their kids out of school during term time - child attendance is becoming a rod to beat people with. It makes me so angry that people are getting fined for taking their kids out of school for a week - the government is poking it's nose in to yet another thing it should mind it's own business over.

well we don't own our own children, the State owns them just the same as the State owns us.

 

with regards to IT when I first started here I would wonder sometimes when you fix a problem, the staff are actually upset rather than happy that you have fixed it. Then you realise you just got rid of their excuse :-(

and also taken away a good reason to moan - some people don't seem to be able to live without moaning and tech stuff is often the favourite target (well - tech stuff and tech people)
