Yeah, I'm a BIG Queen fav (certainly not hardcore, but love 'em)....the production for this has been...er....troublesome shall we say. Was expecting a car wreck of a film...but trialer has raised my hopes a bit.

As a hardcore Queen fan I've been following the trials and tribulations of the making of this and I'm still not sure if I want to go see it or not....

Indeed I'm of similar, that trailer looks good but still undecided, I'm more likely to go now they got rid of Sasha from it but just in that trailer i see Mr Robot in my mind too much haha

Full trailer.

Wow. Wow. I'm going to the cinema to watch this. So looking forward to it, a film can be enjoyed at home easily but a soundtrack like that; must be loud. I can't wait.

Excellent fix :D

@robk, myself, @GrumbleDook and MrsGD had several trips to WWRY when it was on in the west end including the final night when it was hugely emotional for us all after 12 long, very loud, bright and geeky years of visiting many times a year for some of us it was like loosing a close family friend.

I'm sure we can arrange an Edu-Cinema night for this.... West End first screening would be good if it fits diarys.....

Should also add now I've watched the trailer that the casting is looking excellent so many faces I recognise from the history of Queen and Freddie from the books and documentaries I've seen so it could be rather good... I do still see Mr Robot however ;)

I was very sceptical when this was first announced but now can't wait to see it. But I'm going to have to as I'm going on week 2 of release as someone is taking me using their MeerKat vouchers so no spoilers in here please, I don't want to know what happens :)

We were discussing this in the office - we reckon it will become another Mumma Mia, Rocky Horror, Sound of Music type of film that will gain cult status and become a dress up sing along theatre experience rather than be known for it's depth of plot and accuracy

Disappointed by the reviews. Sounds like a missed opportunity but would love to hear what ardent Queen fans think.

I'm not a Queen fan (Mme & Mlle LeMarchand may go next week and I'll see Halloween) but the reviews I've read seem to be more about making the readers realise that the critic is not homophobic. Otherwise, the worst criticism seems to be that the film is too traditional (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). If did like Queen, I'd probably be up for it as Dexter Fletcher did a bang-up job with "Sunshine on Leith".

I'm torn. I will absolutely see it, purely as I'm a huge Queen fan, and it's more of a Queen origin story than anything else; however when even Queen themselves describe it as a Freddie story, despite the majority of his story remaining untold (see the Sacha Baron Cohen reasons for leaving etc) it seems like there's a little inconsistency. Regardless of that, and entirely ignoring the critics who these days rarely ever speak for the general public and only for some other agenda (political and/or $$$), it's clearly a must-see and certainly from somewhere with a decent sound system!

Long Live the Queen!

From what I can gather from the reviews I have read so far, a lot of the critics are not viewing the film as many of us Queen fans would.

Many of the critics wern't even around when Queen were active and it is like a historical movie to them, others, as has been mentioned, see it in terms of how it promotes Freddies sexuality.

I haven't seen it yet but will on Sunday evening and make my own mind up. Given the length of time Queen were active for, it is a big ask to cover everything in just over two hours whilst still concentrating on the important bits I think.
