Fitness Trackers

Looking into getting a fairly basic fitness tracker. (heart rate, steps, sleep counter etc)

 

See loads for around the 20-30 pound mark, many brands i've never heard of.

 

Anyone got any recommendations? I assume FitBit are the best ones, but i dont think my budget can stretch that far.

2 of us have Mi Band 2 here, god for the money. I had 2 Jawbones fail in a year previously.

The Misses and I have Fitbits, partly for the community/friend sharing part. She has an Alta for the size, I got the Charge 2 HR, because its more "Manly" in size lol and at the time the only one that would do Heart Rate.

 

To be honest though, the straps are rubbish, and FitBit are really backwards in coming forward to replacing them under warranty when the things fall to bits. Ended up super gluing my strap back together, been good a gold since!

Was on offer for £20 odd. It's doing the job, logs steps, heartrate, sleep patterns and you can tell it your doing cycling or jogging etc.

 

I am sure there are better ones out there that do more but for 20 bucks can't go wrong. The app is OK too shows you historical/graphs/etc.

Look at second hand. People buy them all the time and stop using them after a couple of months!

I agree that the straps are rubbish but I had the opposite experience when it came to a warranty replacement when the strap on my old Fitbit Charge fell to bits. Fitbit got back to me pretty much instantly and offered to replace it with either a new Charge or with the new model Alta.

 

I took the Alta.

OH had a Fitbit Charge... it broke, got a replacement, that broke, got offered a price on a new version.... the screens cracked

They are good but not robust

Had a Fitbit but a bit like Triggers broom, had the strap replaced three times and the screen once. Changed to a Garmin Vivo Active and love it, bomb proof with an impressive battery life.

Amazfit Bip. It's about £50 and is a basic smartwatch with notifications, step count, GPS, heart rate and (drum roll) the battery lasts about a month between charges. I replaced my Pebble with it.

I have a FitBit which is fine - I did have one fail under warranty but they were great about it. MrwITch's had a broken strap after the warranty had expired, but he bought one off some company on line for pennies and fitted it himself.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm in the market for a new fitness tracker after getting sick of replacing the strap on my fitbit. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Smartwatch but that may be cost prohibitive- anyone have any suggestions

Fossil Gen3 Explorist. These are lovely watches. They don't do heart rate though. £99 at the mo at Argos

 

EDIT: The Gen 4 does heartrate but they're quite a lot more expensive!

I really like my Amazfit Bip. Has its compromises at approx £50 but you get a couple of weeks of battery, heart rate sensor, notifications and GPS.

I have a Huawei band 2, does everything I want it to (steps, gps and heart rate) and a couple of extras I don't use (cycle and swim monitoring ) It was cheap but has a really good battery life and I quite like the app that comes with it.
