Edu-IT Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Has anyone played this yet and if so what do you think of it?
Geoff Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 On preorder here. It's probably sat at work on my desk though, waiting for me to open it!
jcollings Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I played it most of Saturday and love it. Online play is easy and fun. Love the bikes. Back to proper MK roots - streets ahead of Double Dash on the cube. Old familiar tracks can be unlocked (Bowsers Castle anyone). Wii wheel is superb. In short I love everything about it.
SimpleSi Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Great game - I've had all the series since N64 and I've been waiting for this every since Wii came out. However, going online has highlighted the fact that I need to improve wi-fi sig to the wii - being buried low down underneath the TV in the furthest corner away from the computer room doesn't help I'm i right in thinking its 11b? If so I might dig out an old AP and dedicate that to it. regards Simon
stevenlong1985 Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 its 11G I've preorder my Mario Kart ages ago on play.com and they said they cant fullfill my order! :(:(
seacider Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 got it yesterday from toys*'** they threw in an additional wheel. not had chance to play it myself the kids wont let me get near it. looks really good
Benji1 Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 It's really good ! Friends came over last night and we started playing at 9:30 and didn't stop until about 2am !
Michael Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I played it round a mates last night and it is superb. Probably the best Mario Kart to date and easily the best game on Wii. I also think it's cool the fact you have various vehicles to choose from and we also noticed that there were special tracks included from the SNES, N64 as well as other previous versions! The game comes with one wheel by default, but to be honest we weren't overly impressed with it. Brilliant idea in principle but it will certainly take some getting used to. Using the standard controls showed better success at finishing in a high position. To conclude, if you own a Wii you should buy this game!
Edu-IT Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) I got it on Friday but only got round to playing it today. It's difficult! I think the wheel is good but I can see myself getting fed up of removing the remote jacket each time. You can battle people if you know their Wii code can't you? If anyone is up for that then post here. its 11G I've preorder my Mario Kart ages ago on play.com and they said they cant fullfill my order! :(:( That's a shame! I heard that Amazon sold it for £19.99 at some point which means that some people saved a few pounds. Edited April 13, 2008 by Edu-IT
Scotmk Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I got it from toyarrwus on Saturday, great game been playing online with friends. I will post my mario number when I remember it.
Michael Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Why have Nintendo done that? You must know another number to play someone. Seems stupid to me. Playing online should mean you can play anyone, anytime.

Playing online should mean you can play anyone, anytime. You don't *have* to know another number - that's only to allow you to play friends. You can play on line against any other random players.
Michael Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Thanks jcollings, good to know the option is still there
jcollings Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Thanks jcollings, good to know the option is still there I think the online play is superb. I can usually hold my own without too many problems (unlike when I play Pro Evo Soccer where I just get my ass kicked!)
Edu-IT Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 Lets just says it's addictive! Stresses me out because I'm so rubbish.
CyberNerd Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I just unlocked the 100cc special crown cup. If I can find some time when the kids aren't on it I'll unlock and get to play with my mii

If I can find some time when the kids aren't on it I'll unlock and get to play with my mii gratz to me. I did the 100cc special, only 9th on rainbow road but managed to beat peach by 1pt - unlocking my mii
HodgeHi Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I love MK on the Wii. I thought the GC version wasn't that good as well. The best MK version we last had was SNES in my opinion. We should get members to post their Wii numbers and make a schedule to get a Edugeek tourny going. Could be good fun. Now i just got to get good at it. I am OK when playing locally. As soon as i go online i get my ass kicked even though i can be first for most of a race. It is infuriating but addictive at the same time. The wii wheel is very robust . Mine has been around the room a bit like a frisby.
SimpleSi Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Online play against other family/friends is great -but you need a decent speakerphone at either end to hurl insults Si
HodgeHi Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Yeah i thought that the messaging system was very weak. there isn't any online player chat. Most disappointed. Most likely due to Nintendo's family planning. Keepin the kids safe from swearin :-)
plexer Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 I can see myself getting fed up of removing the remote jacket each time. You're not really using those horrible big rubber things are you? I bought my wii before they came out I know that my wiimotes wouldn't fit their charging station with one of those on them anyway. Ben
