  1. The last scam caller I had was very upset when I called him an oxygen thief. Told him he had brought shame onto his family and should pray for forgiveness. The language used in reply was "fruity" to say the least. He was more annoyed when he called me a Mother f*****, I pointed out as I was married and had more than one child, I must logically be one. He let off a tirade of expletives and hung up. i did chortle!
  2. We have two instances of spiceworks installed. The only issue we had was they have to be on seperate servers.

  5. if they paid the 2 crew 500,000 each per year still take a long time to cover the costs. exciting? yes,but not cost effective.
  6. Until you have heard a vulcan on a full thrust near vertical take off, you won't know what loud is. Even the original English Electric Lightning on a QRA take off with full reheat was amazingly loud and darned quick.

  13. I wondered what exactly is a "Coasting" School"? Is it one that does not improve? Is this one of those "All schools must be better than average" load of political jargon rubbish they come out with.
  14. The poll tax was never going to work fairly. At that time I was in the RAF. I wasn't in the country for long after it started, but I still had to pay a months charge of £70, for a shared room in a barrack block. The local council must have been laughing at us. by the time I returned to the UK it was gone.
  15. So was I:confused:
  16. We have been quoted 35K pa for our school. That is a bit on the steep side. How do other schools manage to do it. The free version seems rather limited. it says about reading and modifying of files but nothing about creation of files. No Access in free version. What about Sims? You need office locally installed iirc. There does seem to be a lack of information about licensing for this product. How does it work when your internet is hammered as ours is maxed out about 50% of the time Seacider
  17. They did get upset when I called them Oxygen thieves. Never said a rude word but they did use some juicy language. I then informed them that they would not be going to paradisewith that sort of language. That really upset them They hung up!

  19. The British always complain about the weather in the UK. It should be remembered that we have a brilliant climate compared to many countries at this or even lower latitude. My OH mother lives on the shore of Lake Erie, in winter the lake freezes. What ever cold weather we have it is nothing compared to the cold in Canada. You must also remember that Niagara Falls, which does freeze, is at the same latitude as Marseille. That said, I am no lover of the extremes of weather, having worked in places from the arctic north of Norway to the heat of the Kuwaiti desert and the humidity of central America. Still cannot beat the UK for moderate weather. An ex colleague of mine served in Goose Bay in Labrador Canada. the weather temperature ranged from 40C in summer to -40C in winter, He was lucky doing 18 months with only 1 winter.

  23. When my now 13 yr old started at infant school he could both read and write, I was particularly gobsmacked by the Headteacher telling us off as it was their job to do it. At secondary school I had to help him with a rather strange way of long division taught by the school as he couldn't get his head around it. I showed him the way I was taught at junior school about 40 years ago which works as well now as then and he got it. The teachers have berated me more than once because "they have degrees and know how to teach". I, unfortunately do not have a degree, however I went to school when teachers really did know how to teach.
  24. Just drop the first three as low priority:D
