Youbue video's being blocked

I am getting these video's blocked by on YouTube with moderate restrictions in place. This is even in effect when logging on to a Google apps account. Any suggestions?

I have the DNS setting in both my Sophos UTM and my DNS server.

How are you restricting your YouTube access between for staff and students? Do I need another proxy to send traffic through for Youtube for staff or is there another way?

We're not (unfortunately). I think most do it with their firewall but when I queried this with our LEA they said they could offer more granular access, but the setup documents were well over my head. As I was the only one worried about this, I didn't take it further.

 

I did demonstrate to someone a way of doing it using self-hosted proxy pacs as proof of concept recently. (Students get a pac that sends YT traffic "direct" which won't resolve in our environment - bit of a hack, but it works).

You using Google Apps? They have a neat setup where you can run the students through restricted mode while letting staff browse without restrictions. If a video is not viewable to a student then staff have the option of adding it to a white-list that will make it viewable in restricted mode for your domain. This involves DNS redirection and your staff accounts being members of the approved teachers group in Google Apps.
