Out on interest does your AV software flag it up or are you just being cautious? Would be interested to know what threat if any it pops up with.

Hopefully the software will be the answer to all you exam needs :-)

Once I ran the file our AV removed the file. I have only taught one computer that it's not a threat but I need to teach the others.

Digital signature will probably help, but I guess that costs money, perhaps someone else could sign it.

No wonder you're angry if your AV settings aren't centralised on a server

Looking at rolling this out on our exam laptops. Whilist testing i have noticed if you click save it highlights everything. If a student isn't paying attention and continued to type after clicking save this would then delete all their work.

It also does it when autosaveing so if your typing it will delete all your work when it autosaves.

Saving issue now corrected, and the example file also updated to newer XML format

We have just tried out Exam WritePad for our college, and the exams department has told us that the papers they get don't refer to the unit code, but instead "Paper Reference" (I think it is basically the same thing), could you allow for some more control over the Candidate Info Screen?

Are you referring to just the entry details screen or on the header that is printed out?

Because when it is printed it just reads "Exam: abcdefg etc.." which is more generic to fit any outcome.

Yes.

Yeah I told the Exams staff to just tell the students to put the Paper Reference there. I think that should do, but I thought I would ask, since they asked me. Thanks for your prompt reply.

Is it possible to have the Board/Subject/unit code/paper reference box as separate boxes?

What is your reasoning behind such a request? :-)

Just so I can understand whether most other users would potentially think your way of thinking. I dont want to please one and annoy 1,000 others if you know what I mean :-)

Our exams officer wants to make sure that students enter all of the information. At the moment they could only put in the subject and it would accept it

Ok i see the logic making sure they fill all boxes when split down.

I'm thinking; box 1 = Board, box 2 = subject, box 3 = unit code/paper reference.

But to make it fit for all outcomes I would need to look at past papers for each exam body to see if they all ask for the same/similar info.

The Boards I currently know of are:

AQA

EDXCEL

WJEC

CCEA

OCR

Any others?

In response to the last few posts below is version 2.0.6.0

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2Rz5d6Ck6CCTGFZaU1VMjZwRzQ/view?usp=sharing

Changelog

Error checking has been added for loading older versions of saved files. The software should not

now complain.

Re-designed Candidate Information screen to separated out the Exam details into three separate

entities. They are “Board”, “Subject” and “Unit Code/Reference”.

The Exam Board entry box now has an autosuggest/complete list of predefined exam boards. For

example, union typing in the first letter, lets says “A” the list would suggest “AQA” to click on and

elect.

A new config option has been added to go with the Exam Boards Autocomplete List. It will contain

the suggested list of examination boards, each board is separated by a semi-colon only. If you

decided to blank the list out then the auto complete feature will be disabled and the exam board

box will return back to a standard text box entry.

If you wish to use, or are using an older config that doesn't included the “ExamBoards” option. This

build of ExamWritePad will automatically generate one for you to use.

The header/footer now prints out in a dark grey to distinguish itself from the main text on the page.

If you are printing on a mono printer then it will look like a lighter shade of black.

Fixed an issue when upon selecting a background screen colour, it never remembered what your

current selection was.

Hi,

I have given some 'training' this morning to our exams staff. They really like it, however when I was demonstrating it to them, it crashed and generated an unhandled exception! I have pasted the detail below. It allowed me to click continue and then worked as normal, but obviously the error is likely to panic students. Any ideas why this happened? We are using 2.0.4.1. Are there updates in 2.0.6.0 to fix this?

Thanks

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Can you replicate the error and provide me with step by step info? As I cant get any version to fail.

version 2.0.6.5

Fixed - Upon restoring a previous version that is suppose to be double line spaced always returned it to single, now it returns the correct line spacing and cursor position.

Removed - Close button on Cadidate Info Screen when option to display Candidate Info screen on startup is enabled, This is to force the end user to fill in all details before continuing.

Fixed - Document writing window was enabled if the display Candidate Info screen on startup is enabled, now disabled until the candidate info window has been completed with all relevent information submitted.

Fixed - If Menu Toolstrip is disadbled the document writing window appears 20 pixels lower thus looking odd.

Added - 4 pixel padding to the main window so that the objects inside it (menu bar, toolstrip, document writing window, statusbar) will be more visible.

Using this in our first mock exam this morning, When trying to save it comes up with an error saying that it can't find the backup file. Trying 'save as' with a different name doesn't work either stating the same error message.

In your config file what are you save path and backup paths? If so copy/paste your config file so I can test it asap.

Can you replicate this problem, if so can you describe step by step so I can trace and correct any errors

Thanks

Also note that the user accounts you are logging in with also need write access to the folders they are writing to (saves and backups).

The defaults are desktop for saves and programdata for backups.

I have just tested v2.0.6.5 and I could not get it to fails using the defaults saving and restoring was as expected.

Its only happening on one of the laptops out of the 3 we are trialling, all have the same config file.

The paths both go to T:/ as the laptops are frozen with deep freeze. It was working fine for about half an hour then started coming up with this error.
