Mayki5 Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I once found a laminated leaf inside a laptop cd tray.
dapaulio Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Nothing too strange but Found the mouse that was supposed to be attached to the computer inside the case. Couldn’t work out why someone would remove the mouse, open the case, and neatly wrap it up inside. I only found it because they hadn’t properly aligned the case guides when securing it again. 🤨
sjatkn Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Half a fork from the canteen in the DVD drive and a mouldy cheese sandwich. Along with the usual crisp packets, pencils, paper clips and bits of paper jamming the fans.
MrEprise Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Quite the opposite, once found a computer with nothing inside, one of the little darlings had taken the Motherboard, CPU, RAM and HDD. They kindly left the cumbersome case and PSU, which was nice of them. We had similar happen to us once only in our case they were nice enough to leave us the Hard Disk too. We'd only bought the things a month prior. Bah .
Latham Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 When I was working at Maplins though we once had a customer bring in a pc for repair. when we opened it up we found a dorment wasp nest inside. I think I've had that nightmare on more than one occasion. 1
caffrey Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 In a previous job, we always used to put slices of toast in the directors PC... Nothing malicious we always played tricks on them (I miss that place)
Engeloid Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I've found what must've amounted to most of a bottle of Ribena inside one once - it had started going mouldy inside and the case had become stuck to the table.
HTCPCP Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Worst ones were from schools - Full of used tissues during cold season drinks, gum, flies, snails, finger nails, rotting food etc Missing from machines - Heatsinks RAM Processors (machine was down for a good few months before we actually found out about it Fans Power Supply And one machine where everything was taken out, apart from the CD Drive... (wasn't even one of our i3/i5 machines, but an Athlon X2 Energy efficient range) Makes you question why they think it's either a good idea or worth the effort
Fazza Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Pens, pencils, staples, crisps, money, pencil case, paper clips and this poem written on heart shaped post-it notes:

gmj Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Food, food packaging, pencils...the normal stuff. Plus once a feminine hygiene product.
DrPopkorne Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Something very weird, I found half of a harry potter wand, it looked something like this. I thought it was some sort of smoking device at first until my girlfriend pointed it out.

I've found numerous things - but most prevalent have always been various report cards/books. I always have to question the sense of such an action as they always bear the students' name. 2

I've find that a lot of the time, stuff like this is as much down to the friend sat at the computer next to them, rather than the individual who was logged in.
ChrisH Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I once found a mouse once with its teeth still round the power cable that killed it, there was a bad smell in that room about a month before and we couldn't find the source at the time and forgot about it until I went to fix this computer that eventually went faulty. 1
Kitkatninja Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Once I've found about 1/3 glass of liquid (I assumed it was water) in a laptop (it literally poured out of the laptop when I removed the battery). Staff member said it just stopped working...

Katy Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Yeah laptops. They always 'just stop working'. I dunno why anyone buys them Hmmm good idea. "No you can't have a staff laptop. Didn't you know? They just stop working. Usually after you've spilt a glass of wine over the keyboard then lied about it."
Helen25 Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 (edited) I once found a mouse once with its teeth still round the power cable that killed it, there was a bad smell in that room about a month before and we couldn't find the source at the time and forgot about it until I went to fix this computer that eventually went faulty. One school I worked at had this as a common problem but the mice would also get just about everywhere as the building was listed and rather old. It made trying to locate network faults an interesting experience. Rubber gloves became my best friend! It's now a rather posh wedding venue https://www.froylepark.co.uk/ My Office was the two windows directly above and to the right of the entrance. Edited February 1, 2018 by Helen25
mikes Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 i keep finding pen ink squirted all over motherboards in one classroom, unfortunately it fries the motherboards :-( i've tried washing the ink off, leaving it to dry over the weekend, but they still won't POST - i think the act of powering them on with the ink shorts the board and damages it irrecoverably. i once had a call to an inkjet printer (back when we used to use those) that kept jamming. the cause was half of a monster munch (beef flavour). the teacher said "that was the cause, do you know how that got in there?" i wonder...

Usually after you've spilt a glass of wine over the keyboard then lied about it." I had one a couple of years ago where the user brought a laptop with a pink hue on the entire screen. "Erm.... Did you spill a big glass of rose over it?" "Yes. Sorry." At least they were honest.

The other one had his laptop in the middle of a stack of markbook/worksheets etc, didn't realise it was there and picked the lot up and slammed it on a desk when his class wouldn't shut up. Needed a new screen and new hard drive. Suppose it could have been worse - D&T teacher so it could have gone through the bandsaw or something!
Homer Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I once found a can of Lynx in one, and a half eaten sandwich in another. Still have the can of Lynx as a trophy!
mikkydoos Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 I'm going to hide in a big old server tower and wait for someone to find me. That'll be a surprise 1
