RobMason Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 @RobMason is there any news on this? We're planned in to migrate to the inline over HT. We've been given the normal agent with the setup instructions however I was wondering if this way was the better option (depending on testing)? Cheers Good Morning, Yes, we have had promising results with the msi installer and are moving our processes over to using it as the default deployment method. If you have been provided batch scripts you must have just missed the switch but please get in touch with your point of contact and ask for the MSI installer. Any issues, drop me a PM and I will build you one. Anyone else having issues with the old WAGENT, please get in touch with our support department who are now trained on building an msi and can move you over to that authentication method. If anyone wants more details just ask, Thanks, Rob 1
Harlin67 Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Sorry to post on an old thread, but I'm new to this.. We have an issue with Netsweeper not providing identification of any user device on any report, so we're unable to know which user account\device has breached\connected to inappropriate material. On the Prevent report, we only see the Client IP, and client name is transparentpupil@NSW-Server name. We do not use a proxy, only Netsweeper + Radius. Would anyone have any thoughts, or experienced similar? Thanks
PV-Wolstanton Posted September 17, 2019 Posted September 17, 2019 BYOD issue Hi, We were switched over to Netsweeper by SBB over the summer - the basic rollout has gone fine for school devices, but I haven't worked out a solution for non-Windows BYOD devices - I can install the certificate on them but is there a way to install WAgent on Android & Apple devices which may need secure connections? I checked PlayStore and nothing appropriate came up.

mavhc Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Don't think that covers the situation though. What does WAgent do? Integrated Windows Authentication via Kerberos or NTLM?
caffrey Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Not sure, think it just grabs the logged on username from somewhere, appends the necessary SBB stuff Re BYOD, radius ? Although that was an utter pain to get sorted out
stevo1565 Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 We have had issues since the start of term with Schools Broadband and not getting far with them at all. One of our site's shows on the Wagent that its a staff member yet all pages are being blocked as pupil, happens every day sometimes it works fine other times it does not. Another site paid for an upgrade which has not improved their performance at all Now having to voice things here as no one seems to get the level of urgency !!!!!!!!

Having allot of problems with SBB here too. No one seems to reply. Or when i do get a reply, its not a helpful one. I have emails that i sent in two weeks ago, still awaiting a response.
vitorneto Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Try adding to netsweeper but using the referral instead of url
vitorneto Posted November 27, 2019 Posted November 27, 2019 Have you tried adding the site as a referral ?
caffrey Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Is there a problem with SBB at the moment especially with support ? I get no acknowledgement when I send in a support email - I've been trying to get the play store on chromebooks working since November...
SchoolsBroadband Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Shouldn't be. Things are generally quite quiet and case load is back to normal. Suggest you give the team a call to chase and if need be ask foe team leader which for you is Michelle Miller who will escalate for you. Alternatively pm me your case reference and I will speak to her for you. Thanks Dave

We have it working but not reliably. Sometime Play store connects, other times it just loads with errors. Can not see anything is being blocked.
caffrey Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 I was on the phone for an hour today trying to get it sorted but didn't really get anywhere. The only way it worked was not to apply any filtering or firewall to the ip of the device which is far from ideal - it's something to do with ports maybe?, I don't fully understand how the stack works at SBB. Annoying thing is if I was still on Smoothwall - I could've fixed this in 10 mins max.........

caffrey Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Like you, sometimes - weird thing is I thought it was to do with a policy we have that only allows youtube during the school day, the play store seems to work fine outside of that Not sure at all what's going on, it's a bit frustrating
snagrat Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 So did it work if firewall was completely open but still going via the filter? Or did you need to have both completely open? I could open the firewall fully for the Chromebooks as long as they were still filtered.
caffrey Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 We tried both and it worked fine unfiltered and firewall open on that one IP, I know the play store needs a specific port open (5228 iirc)
snagrat Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 @SchoolsBroadband are you aware of these issues with the PlayStore on Chromebooks
SchoolsBroadband Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Hi folks. Google changed something again. All should be working now. If not please send me or @RobMason a pm. Thanks Dave
snagrat Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Hi folks. Google changed something again. All should be working now. If not please send me or @RobMason a pm. Thanks Dave Have you got any more info? Was it a filter or firewall change? Has this been changed for all customers?
SchoolsBroadband Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 Filter I believe and yes all customers. @RobMason sent me a WhatsApp after I messaged him tonight. He will be on to explain shortly. Every now and then google add more URLs to their services which often filtering providers then need to white list for Google services to continue to function correctly. I believe its been changed for all customers. Thanks Dave
caffrey Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 Is it working now ? Wasn't here yesterday but I think my issue is unrelated
snagrat Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Is it working now ? Wasn't here yesterday but I think my issue is unrelated Is your Google Play working correctly on the Chromebooks now? I’m still getting reports it is not but wanted to see if anyone else is still having the issue.
caffrey Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 (edited) Yes it is, but the apps are hit and miss if you force install - the play store usually comes up blank. Edit, oh and make sure that SBB haven't blocked the Google DNS servers as the play store I think needs to reach them... Edited February 12, 2020 by caffrey
