Hi all,

Do any of you use/recommend a Veeam cloud connect partner? I've recently replaced a local primary's server with a more modern system using Hyper-V & Veeam to a local NAS - This works well but I want to put a backup copy onto the cloud for DR & Ransomware protection.

A full backup is around 800gb and daily changes are around 1 to 1.5gb if that.

I'm thinking of storing a 30 day rolling & a full end of each term backup in the cloud - I could do a full monthly to the cloud but I think that'll add up quickly & may be overkill for a primary - Naturally budget is very small.

Thanks

Just in case anyone else looks at this in the future - I ended up going with "Central technology" which gave me 3TB of space for £120 per month (£1,440 per year) - Was painless to setup as well.

Our costs.

VeeamCloudConnectImageLevelBackup Costs per month.

4Tb = £160.00

7 VeeamCloudConnectBackupLicenses £4.75ea = £33.25

This was with the same "Central Technology" based in Chesterfield.

Think I'll stick to using Veeam and Cloudberry with Azure here. 6TB of data on Azure at the moment, costs us about £25 a month.

Hi, Excuse the late query. Can you please let me know what's the retention period they are providing and also are they based in the UK.

Thanks

Cloudberry is just a piece of backup software. Azure is where we store the data - and we set our own retention period. Azure is wherever you want it - its Microsoft, and they have datacenters all over the world.

Which Cloudberry product are you using to backup Veeam backups? Are you just copying the Veeam backup files themselves directly to cloud storage?

We use PeaSoup through Haptic, ~£550 per year for 1 TB of space.

Thanks for the suggestion. We got a quote from them however the school is looking at ways to save money so we've been asked to investigate options for backing up to cloud storage like Google Drive/Azure/etc.

If it's cloud storage you already pay for, then that could make sense. I'd probably just copy the files up there, spin up a new Veeam instance somewhere and test copying them back down and restoring.

That's what I'm thinking could be an option. It's not as convenient as Veeam Cloud Connect but I don't see us being provided budget to do cloud backups through that.

I'd wondered if @localzuk 's suggestion of using Cloudberry might be a cheap workaround given that, as a school, we already have potentially unlimited storage through Google Apps.
