jthompson Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 Is this stuff just basically our civilisation's version of the myths and legends from ancients times? The point not being the truthfulness of them at all but rather the sense of satisfaction that the stories give to people collectively? I'm trying to think what dumb things I've done that I believed were worth pursuing: I've sure I've wasted many hours/days playing computer games just for some of the rarer achievements. To other people that's quite a thick thing to spend your time doing, even though I know it's not worth the time.
Koldov Posted January 20, 2022 Posted January 20, 2022 I had written quite a long post about religion, war, politics, insurrections, assassinations (all of these have their own conspiracy theories of why they happened), but I bored myself so I have condensed it (yes, this is condensed). The thing is (and I get that there might not be lizard people), but to paraphrase a famous quote, 'just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you'... what I mean is that you can laugh at the seriously ridiculous conspiracy theories, but they have at their core a belief that there are powers in the world that 'control' things on a large scale 'behind the scenes'. That powerful people are (and have always been) using religion, war, politics, insurrection, assassination to guide global changes or on a geo-political scale... even if they aren't lizards! It's not that difficult to look into our recent history and find conspiracy theories about why a certain country might have released a virus (destabilise the western economy or population control), invaded another country to find WMDs (control oil production or stop a certain leader/country being too powerful), or an uprising in a country needing forces from a 'neighbouring country' to be deployed and it just so happens that original country borders another country the 'neighbouring forces' need to be deployed on the border of... and then find out in a 100 years they actually did do it on purpose or it wasn't for the reasons they stated publicly... there are for sure, dark forces amongst us, they might not be the type portrayed in films (although they might be) but we know in our subconscious that it's at least possible (and therefore open to interpretation or exaggeration)... Most of the human race has always need to believe in something, a reason for being here, a higher power (and that by definition must be something intangible, something that cannot be seen or understood)... are some of the theories (aliens) anymore ridiculous than believing in a deity** ? But trying to prove or disprove the existence of something like that is (so far) impossible scientifically... So... back on topic, disproving flat-earth is entirely possible (not just in theory) isn't it? What is difficult is getting them all on a space-ship and firing them out there on their way into the sun, just so they can have the epiphany (not the Jesus version - or maybe it will be, who knows?) before burning to a crisp! **Although science believes that stars are actually our creator (as in the place where our 'elements' were born)... we are stardust... we are golden... so Sun God worship totally justified!

One of their other products is a pair of "anti-radiation" headphones. Regular headsets conduct radiation from your phone into your ear canal and brain. With our SYB Air Tubes, we use hollow tubes instead of wire to carry the sound, to stop the radiation in its tracks! Hold on! So an air gap stops radiation? If you believe that, why bother with expensive pants?

Pulling it back toward "flat Earth" a little, I can say that (elsewhere) I was promised a "flat Earth" map that was being worked on by a "flat Earth genius" I "waited" nearly a year (so far) and, naturally, is nothing forthcoming.
