Hey All,

As a pretty avid Dungeons and Dragons player for a few years now, I thought it'd be cool for us to have a place to just talk about any campaigns we might be in/running, or cool stories you heard about them. This isn't just limited to DND though, as other games like Fate, Scion, Call of Cthulu, Pathfinder, Scifinder etc are more than welcome! :)

I've been DM'ing a 5E campaign for about 2 months now. Been going really well. We spent almost 2 hours arguing after the session about the specifics of the spell 'Control Water'. Good times!

As for my personal experience as a player, I mostly play Bards or Warlocks. My favourite class is the Bard, and favourite 5E race is a Dwarf. My most recent character was Luna Delfray, a Half-Elf Circle of the Moon Druid.

I was disappointed clicking on this thread, i thought it was going to be able Rocket Propelled Grenades :/

On a serious note. I've tried to get into DnD but i find out it just takes to much time for me liking (says the person who played PUBG for around 20 hours over the weekend).

But would be interested if it wasn't so long! I don't know if there is a short version.

Was a big DnD gamer for about 10 years currently taking a break since my daughter was born. But played Advanced, 3.5, 4 and 5, always preferred 3.5 as I found it involved more rolls - personal opinion.

DMd mainly in the Ravenloft setting which is a Horror version of the DnD world. Liked to play any kind of character to be hones, depended how involved I wanted to be in the scheming/planning whether i wanted to be a dumb fighter or a magic user.

If anyone is interested in DnD and want to see some gameplay watch Acquisitions Incorporated PAX Prime on youtube. One of the people who work on the game runs the sessions at one time they had Will Wheaton playing. Worth watching so funny.

Used to play CotC, Vampire: The Masquerade, Star Wars (West End Games version), Dreampark, On The Edge and many more. Also have books and eBooks for many other systems. Unfortunately I just don't have the time to invest in the hobby any more. Still buy the occasional book, but as they just end up on the shelf/hard drive unused I'm trying not to get any more. Managed to stop myself from going for the recent Doctor Who Humble Bundle so I may be winning!

I used to find it difficult to find suitable players for my play style, as my enjoyment was from telling a story (or being in one if not GM) and the rules were there to help decide the outcome of events but a lot of people prefer to stick to the absolute letter of the rules (which is fine) and roll a LOT of dice; I used to prefer keeping rolls to a minimum.

P.S. Have anyone ever found a (preferably cheap/free) decent dice rolling program that allows you to program non-standard dice and is aesthetically pleasing? Best I've found so far is https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/simple-dice-roller/9wzdncrdr16z but it's kinda dull. Bonus points if there's a WinMo version, too.

Haven't played anything for a while, but I've played quite a few various formats. Traveller is always good, as is Pathfinder. I do also enjoy the odd Paranoia oneshot.

I Play a jokey one with my friends. always wanted to do a more "serious" one but never found the people to play with. Although I have found that I enjoy it a lot more when face to face rather than online.

Oh dear - this is where I show my age...

Started with AD&D (first edition) back in the day and over my time I've played:

AD&D First Edition

AD&D Second Edition

D&D 3/3.5

D&D 4th

Pathfinder

Big Eyes Small Mouth

Rolemaster

Spacemaster

Privateer

G.U.R.P.S

Middle Earth RP

Warhammer RP

Star Wars (both the older D6 based and the D20 versions)

Stargate D20

Judge Dredd

Sidewinder

Shadowrun

Cyberpunk

My group will generally play pretty much anything - we've played Spacemaster/Rolemaster/Privateer for that long that we can run through a combat pretty quickly (for those of you know the infamous D100/Attack tables/Crit Tables of those systems). We're currently playing a modified 3.5 campaign (we add in aspects of Pathfinder and some little extras like having passive spot/listen) as the modular system allows you to (with reflavouring) make anything you want. Over the years we've had some rather memorable characters in the various parties.

Memorable Characters (not mine):

Vangbad The Butcher (D&D3.5): (Was actually a butcher - and yes "The" was his middle name) who carried his family (a series of shrunken heads) with him and talked to them.

Shikue (D&D3.5): A Naruto-inspired ninja built almost entirely with reflavoured cleric.

Liam O'Hara (Spacemaster): A futuristic Irish ne'er do well who is wanted for multiple crimes and has narrowly escaped the wrath of the New Eire Confederation's potato slave punishment.

Anderil (D&D3.5): A friend's Druid who forgot druids could cast spells - seriously, he went about 7 levels before realising, as he spent all his time wildshaping.

Mine:

Vasim (D&D3.5): A rogue that started as proving the concept you don't need armour to tank.

Wathiki (D&D3.5): My current character, a Cleric/Bard who (so far) speaks in rhyme and made the DM facepalm when I sent him my background as I'd modified the opening to The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and sent him that.

Cyberpunk

I knew I'd forget one major game!

On other players, one of my groups featured a guy who must have had *ahem* Small Man Syndrome, judging by the way his characters always had to have the biggest, most powerful, gun available and the try to tote it around.

My sessions can usually be ran in one sitting.

its only now going to start being more or a long winded story game but your more than welcome to drop in for one session play and see if you like it!
