JTTCM Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Hi All, So, KB4011039 went in to ALL machines here in school. Causing chaos. I don't have the time to sit at every PC and remove it. MS Say that on October 3rd (Today) there will be a fix. Does anyone know where it is? What its called? We are using WSUS server too, just to make life difficult (As it wont retract that update ). Many thanks John
LeMarchand Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Go to approve the installation for all machines and "approve" it for removal (if you can't wait).
JTTCM Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 Sadly, it doesn't work for this update, have tried. - It seems that WSUS and this update don't like to be removed SEE https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/c9c2c6ab-29f6-455a-bd23-10ee3d736992/officeword-2016-text-missed-from-tables-cell-after-kb4011039?ranMID=24542&ranEAID=TnL5HPStwNw&ranSiteID=TnL5HPStwNw-TV0m1ZmYEtVAxPXiDwnQbg&tduid=(bfe5ec04838cf933ef93ab015422fcbc)(256380)(2459594)(TnL5HPStwNw-TV0m1ZmYEtVAxPXiDwnQbg)()

I set the approval date a day in the past, but I see someone on that thread says it didn't help. @witch had some problems removing it. Maybe she had to do something extra?
kennysarmy Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 KB4011039 installed here so far on 709 computers - no issues reported - what does it break?
Steve21 Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 KB4011039 installed here so far on 709 computers - no issues reported - what does it break? Certain versions of Office and tables displaying/lining up etc, but there's patch coming any day so if you don't notice anything probably isn't an issue for you Steve
L3OUGH Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 (edited) It caused havoc in one of my Primaries. Luckily that wasn't 700+ machines. I did however set it for removal and it uninstalled. The patch was scheduled for release today though I believe. From MS: After you install this update 4011039, you may encounter the following issues: If you merge vertical cells in a table, the cell content disappears, and you can't select the merged cell. If you open an existing document that has a table with merged cells, the cells are displayed as blank. Edited October 3, 2017 by L3OUGH
witch Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 In the end I didnt do anything extra, I just waited and after a couple of hours, all was well. Office 2013 didnt show any issues so if anyone has that the update wont cause a problem

Chris_ Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Had a similar issue a couple of weeks ago with Excel 2016 after KB4011050 was installed. Black lines would appear below rows after hitting return. KB4011165 fixes the issue.
ajs Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 Had a similar issue a couple of weeks ago with Excel 2016 after KB4011050 was installed. Black lines would appear below rows after hitting return. KB4011165 fixes the issue. Which then goes and breaks SIMS reports that use Pivot Tables :-) 1
JTTCM Posted October 20, 2017 Author Posted October 20, 2017 Which then goes and breaks SIMS reports that use Pivot Tables :-) We have this issue too and that update has now been removed and still this sims issue too... Anyone know how to fix that? JT
ajs Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 As far as I'm aware making sure that neither KB4011050 nor KB4011165 are installed are the only ways to fix the SIMS issue. I'm not aware of any updates released as part of the October set that replace either of the other updates.

Now stuck with the Excel issue and Sims! Something goes wrong "pivot table cache" error or something.
LeMarchand Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Thanks, Word did fix with the October fix. Now stuck with the Excel issue and Sims! Something goes wrong "pivot table cache" error or something. We have this too. Wondering if it's unique to SIMS as I can't find many complaints about it.
JTTCM Posted October 20, 2017 Author Posted October 20, 2017 We have this too. Wondering if it's unique to SIMS as I can't find many complaints about it. Same here, This is what I got back from Capita the other day though Hi We have tried in a number of locations to try & replicate the issue, however we are not able to replicate the issue even with the environmental details that the customers have been providing. Bedford desk has already confirmed that the KBs that have been applied in the schools that appear to be resolving the issue if removed, have already been applied on our workstations and yet the issue is still not replicable so we believe that there is something else in the environments which is causing this issue on top of these KBs that is different in the schools to the service desks. As we have been unable to investigate this as the issue has not been able to be replicated, we can only advise customers to discuss this with Microsoft.
LeMarchand Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Same here, This is what I got back from Capita the other day though I've only had the complaint at one of my three schools - but the others may not be doing the same thing. Will check after 1/2 term and report back. Unless someone finds a cure before then!
LeMarchand Posted October 20, 2017 Posted October 20, 2017 Had occasion to remote into another site. Tested - same problem.
