Online reporting of safeguarding concerns. How do you do it?

HTTPS-enabled form on your website? Service of some description? Something else?

 

The powers that be would like pupils/parents/public to have the option of reporting safeguarding concerns online to the designated DSL.

 

Currently, students reporting concerns in person to the DSL are very visible. They also may to report the concern but not attach their name to it.

 

My 2p is that information must be transported securely, delivered directly to the DSL and the S/N ratio must be such that it's usable.

We've just started using CPOMS after a recommendation from @ticker - I've had nothing to do with the setup, other than adding a shortcut for the staff to the site, so that definitely gets a thumbs up from me... The Safeguarding team are all really happy with it too...

For CPOMS and MyConcern, can a parent, student or member of the public report a concern?

 

That's our use case for this.

 

Say Pupil A knows Pupil B is self-harming, can they use the systems to let the school know without Pupil B finding out they reported it?

 

If a parent is concerned about a child that isn't theirs, does it work for them?

 

Can Bob at RandomCompany who notices some of our kids being twerps on the way to/from school use it to report a concern?

 

edit: and yes, I could contact the companies directly, but showmyhomework is still stalking me after two years of me encouraging reception to tell them I've emigrated, so I prefer not to encourage salespeople without some due diligence.

@pete We use the SHARP report a concern system which comes under MET police i believe for reporting concerns

Our primaries are using CPOMS, we are going to start using https://www.provisionmap.co.uk/safeguard-my-school/ but we've already got the provision map software. Not sure if you can have it as a one off or if it's part of the same product.

We use https://safeguard.software/. It syncs student info direct from SIMS, provides an online Level 1 Safeguarding course for staff to complete, email and SMS notifications, 2FA authentication of DSLs (via Google Authenticator) and excellent support. It also allows transfer of chronologies students from other schools that also use it, such as feeder primaries.

I had a look at this and was initially hopeful, then discovered they send the form data in the clear (no HTTPS) as far as I can tell.
