torledo Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Speaking of cartoons/animation from the 80's does anyone remember the name of an chrildrens animation programme that used to be on ITV. From what i remeber it used to air on a saturday or sunday afternoon and it was set in space with these alien like characters that had these warships. The figures i think were controlled by wires rathern than stop motion. The only name i remeber from the programme was something that sounded like 'Orion'....

torledo Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I was thinking about Star Fleet! Watching snippets on Youtube after nearly two decades gave me goosebumps. I was wondering if you guys can help me with a 80's TV programme (not cartoon or kids) that was on the screens very briefly. It was american, about a guy who stole an expensive car and then used it to i think solve crimes. The car was in a warehouse and looked like a red Mclaren F1 with the similar distince front curve. Remeber, this was in the late 80's so if something in a TV prog. looked as drop dead gorgeous as an F1 in RED you must remeber....either that or my memory is playing tricks. It was a truly incredible, expensive looking sports car - the car was red and the car's thief from what i remeber had a perm. Any ideas ?

It think it was called 'Pole Position' or something like that? Wasn't there a male and female detective who went around racing and solving crimes? Kind of like scooby doo meets knight rider! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pole_Position_(TV_series)) Edited March 14, 2008 by flyinghaggis
torledo Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 It think it was called 'Pole Position' or something like that? Wasn't there a male and female detective who went around racing and solving crimes? Kind of like scooby doo meets knight rider! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pole_Position_(TV_series) The name doesn't ring a bell....there was an element of Knight Rider to it, not sure about a woman all i remember is the guy with the perm. Plus, perm guy may have had some kind of mentor in the show. Perm guy was either a burglar or had spent time in prison for thieving cars.... I desperately need to see that car again.....
Jake Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I'm going to go ahead and say it was a show called "Viper" , featuring a red Dodge Viper which was *the* car to feature on magazines and so forth at the time. Although it was an early-mid 90s show, so I may be wrong

Plus the car was much better looking than a Viper.
Jake Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Darn, that was the only one I could remember that had a red car
