I need to get some better sound from my TV at home. As much as I would love an all singing surround sound system it's not going to happen. TV is mounted on a moveable bracket high up and to improve the sound from it I fitted my cheap Logitech 2.1 kit which has helped a lot but it's not quite up to it. I don't want to spend more than £150, at the moment this is top of my list

Any other suggestions?

Is the better option "not going to happen" because cost or other reasons? If it's just cost, have a look around at second hand gear?

Cost, layout of room, building work still going on and more to happen

Can you get to a Richer Sounds? Might be worth a visit as they have a couple in your price range and you could get to hear them.

15 miles but getting there during opening hours is an issue.

I grabbed a Samsung soundbar with subwoofer from tesco_outlet on ebay - "refurbished" (so most likely box opened and then returned) worth a look. I was sitting between the LG you linked and the similar spec samsung but found a slightly higher spec one through the outlet for about the same price as I'd been looking at new ones.

Something like this? Samsung HW-J355/UX 120W Wireless Audio Soundbar With Wired Subwoofer Bluetooth | eBay

Yeah, pretty much - though I think I got 1 model up (bought my wife a mixer as well, so got 15% off... well, bought my wife a mixer and then added the soundbar on)

Soundbars seem better suited to wall mounted TV - if you've on a TV table, you'd probably be better looking at a soundbase instead.

TV is on the wall.

Yamaha very often overlooked
And very few people realise that the 'spokes' on their emblem are actually crossed tuning forks.

To the OP, My guess is that what you really need is a sub, but don't necessarily need any more/different hf drivers.

I bought that very same LG soundbar recently, it was the best of the bunch I listened to in that price range but now that I have it home and set up I can't say that I'm really impressed with it to be honest, it's either too bassy or not bassy enough, I can't seem to hit that happy medium with it.

Thanks for that

Stupid question but have you checked it's not auto volume control on the TV.

Mine does the same so it's probably not that but worth checking.

Yes, checked that. Does it via aux from TV and optical from Sky box. Tbh, I am kind of glad it's faulty, not overly impressed with the sound quality so it was a decent reason to return it.
